I am planning on moving to Palm Springs, California in the fall and I was wondering if anyone might know of any fish/reef stores in the area. And if so what kind of prices? Are California prices high or low compared to other regions? Here frogspawn, hammers, and such go for $25 a head, mushrooms $8-9 each. Any info would be great...thanks.

My sister has a house (and a FOWLR) in Palm Desert. The closest good stores are off the 10 in Beaumont and then further in on the 15 in Riverside Co.

actually last time i went to palm spring, while not even looking for LFS, i found quite a few. California tends to have a great selection for reefing. and hey, only two hours away is orange county where the motherload of lfs's are. palm springs only gets hot during summer... very hot. look at www.scnrs.com for help from local reefers (all in southern california). palm springs is a beautiful place to be all year round.

Really, there's an lfs in Beaumont? Do you have a name by chance?

Thanks for all of the info. It helps ease my mind. We are actually moving to Ranchomirage outside of Palm Springs. I have live in Arkansas my whole life and can't wait to see something new. Now the hard part will be transporting all of my livestock in buckets on a U-Haul for 2-3 days. Didn't know about Orange County. That's great.....anything else I need to know about the area?

So. Cali (well CA in general) has some of the best livestock prices around depending on where you go of course. Clams for $20-$40 at most places, zoa colonies for $50 at some places, mushrooms for like $5-$10 depending on the size and type.

I too would say Riverside might be the best bet for LFSs near or around Palm Springs, but I couldn't imagine there not being a single LFS in the immediate Palm Springs/Palm Desert area... Good luck! smile.gif
