Not for too much longer! And who knows, maybe some anemones will spontaneously generate in your tank. The chances of it happening are very small, but it's possible!

With Home Depot rock, WalMart distilled water and Instant Ocean from PetCo?
I guess anything is possible, lol.
Jamie
Oct 13 2008, 11:59 PM
I think for most things along those lines it would take longer than the current age of the universe for it to be statistically likely to happen by chance, but who knows, maybe it'll happen sooner. It'd suck if it happened, and then it ended up being an aiptasia or something. So close!

hmmmmmm...i think we need to revise the rules here...
i only has like 5 anemones...and I can only see 3.
How many u has??
I think we need more pics

oh...and spontaneously generated aiptasia in jeremai's tank...I'd laugh

Actually, if there are any Aiptasia that are capable of surviving in 60 degree water, I'd welcome them. The strawberries have larger nematocysts anyway.

i was kinda thinkin bout it...and arent strawberries the aiptasia of the coldwater realm anyway? spreads everywhere, stings everything...
just purtier.

They don't reproduce that quickly, do they? And I'd much rather have a tank entirely filled with berries than with aips. That's just me though. I wonder if you could acclimate aips to coldwater, and then, once there, if they'd reproduce slower, because of the cold water? I might have to try this.

i dunno...i've seen quite a few public aquaria that were crawling with them. Then again...never had problems with aiptasia reproducing either.
dont know if it'll work with aiptasia, but my tube worms came from my mini carpet biotope.

Really? interesting. yardboy's nano has lots of tropical stuff too. Montipora and stuff, and it gets down into the 60's. I think I'm gonna try it! On time I tried zoanthids, but I didn't really acclimate them, I just put them in, and they died, but that was a long time ago before I had a good cw tank.

I have yet to get a good pic of this anemone. This included. Not positioned in the tank very well I guess.

Hmm. Okay, I've got it. I invented a random code recently (hey, I was bored, okay!), and I'm gonna write a message in it. I will post more pics once someone decodes it.

I will post no pictures before that point. I think I've got all the kinks in the code worked out, so it should be deodeable. I'll post the message up in a few minutes!

No, but the real reason I'm doing this is that I'm tired of taking pictures, and need a rest. It's take you guys at least a few days to solve this, right? Now, if you want more pictures, get to work!

That is a frightening thought! They're always watching.

Heres a hint. The first two words are: "If you" . The last two are "you want" .
The words nano, reef, strawberry, and anemone are all in there, but I'm not telling you where!

That's all. Continue with the decoding please.

I

you.
Does that work too?
Jamie
Oct 15 2008, 06:31 PM
No, that won't get you any pictures, but it will get you more hints!

The last word in the second line is "congratulations"
Most "vowel" characters can stand for different vowels, depending on the word. For example, the "o" in "offer" and "o" in "of" have different symbols. The "o" in "of" and the "a" in "anemone" have the same symbol.
edit" btw, "offer" is not used in the paragraph I wrote, it was just an example.

Okay, even though you guys already weren't getting any pics before, you will be getting even less pics now, because I just broke my camera. Actually it's more the lens, but it's the only one I have, so the overall effect is the same. I kind of accidentally kicked the tripod it was on, and it just fell over and landed right on it's face. Now you can't zoom in and out, and theres this big plastic "ring" thing inside it that came dislodged and it moves around and stuff. So, yeah, I guess if you solve the code between now and when I get it fixed I'll take some pics with a point and shoot or something. Or I guess I could use my mom's camera. Anyways, it's going to the store tomorrow, hopefully they can fix it.

Jamie
Oct 16 2008, 12:35 AM
lol, I know, I am. One time I was trying to jump up onto a raised pathway, it was a rock path, and I tripped some how and while trying to catch myself I smashed my camera onto a rock. It was, fine, other than a few scratches, so I'm kind of surprised that a little fall from the tripod to the floor broke it. guess I'll be more careful next time.

No, and you definitely need to.
Oh, and the lens is fixable. Something broke with the focus; it's gonna cost about 80 dollars to fix. I'm just glad I didn't crack the glass! Doubt I could afford a whole new lens. But the camera should be back soon.
