I'd help if I had money but I'm broke haha. I'm still just trying to figure out how I'm going to buy a few maxijets. My LFS wants $40 for them and I know I can get them onling for $15...

Well, none of the fish would hold still long enough to get a decent pic so to hell with it... Here are some really blue vids (sorry can't adjust the white balance on the video setting)... They love swimming the length!
Fair warning, I had the baby in the room, so turn down the volume, the mic is really sensitive and everything is amplified!!!

WOW Amazing is all I can say.
That PB Tang looks like its having a blast. It also look like in the first video that he is getting tired of swimming halfway through the Tank. LOL
I will say it again AMAZING!!!

Interesting setup. I could hide one like that. Thansk for sharing.
I put my frag tank on hold because of space but also because I have seen 10 sold off recently. No takers on purchasing. Trades are all I see now and the last swap I went too, all but a couple of frags were actually given away, no trades and only a couple of sales. Oh how I rememebrer the golden age of frags. LOL

Awesome news on the Bangaiis! I love mine and I must say that I'm extremely happy they breed so easily. Good luck raising the fry! Is the Blue tang still MIA?

Thanks, yeah at this point I'm more interested in just keeping a tank, and raise some babies... Who knows if I can sell em (not like there is much profit in it), but it would feel good to know I was able to put more C/B bangaiis out there instead of W/C.

Thanks! Yeah been over a week and he's still holding the eggs, hope things continue well.

Hippo has re-appeared, and is doing well. I think I need more cleaner shrimp, 1 shrimp for 3 tangs seems to be way too much work for the 1 shrimp. He does his job, but they have a little Ich still. Too many things to buy and too many upgrades to do... Fingers crossed on selling some more frags so I can fund a major upgrade...

That's what drives this hobby and I hope you do well. I realized that may have sounded discouraging but I was just relating how things have bene going locally. I have gotten the bug to have the frag tank. I have actually bene looking at ways to condense the footprint, as you have. Even looking at designs for hatcheries for food from places like
http://www.aquaculturestore.com/index.html and
https://3kserver7.com/~frank/secure/agora.cgi . Just looking at their simple setups for rotifers and such. I can dream.

I was thinking an empty cube with a single Acro. Yongi colony growing and use it as a breeding tank for Bangaii's. Oh well, so much for that idea.

Nah, not nuts at all.
I think a great many of us enjoy the planning, gathering and the actual build as much ( some folks even more ) than the finished reef itself.
As much as I would love to follow along on another build of yours perhaps now is not the time
Unless.....hmmm. Wouldn't fit in the frag closet, would it?
calvin415
Jun 26 2009, 10:30 PM
It would actually fit in the frag closet, but I wouldn't be able to get easy access to the breaker panel.

Although, that does give me an idea... Hmmmm...

Sorry everyone, I have been so busy with everything going on right now... I have not done much with the tank all summer, other than a battle which had some losses.
Quick summary:
In an attempt to fatten up by Bangaii's for breeding I was overfeeding... Bad idea, as this resulted in a bad algea outbreak, if that wasn't bad enough my PB tang over night got covered in Ich, and the stupid cleaner shrimp would only clean the yellow.

Thus, I lost my PB tang, and ended up losing all my Bangaii fry, Bangaii adults (all 4) my Midas Blenny, Perc Clown, and Dragon Goby. And to make matter worse the center section of lights went out on me about 6 weeks ago (I fixed this last week). So for the most of summer 1/3 of my tank was in the dark and the rest was covered in algea... After doing weekly water changes and heavy skimming with no change, I decided to try something new. SUGAR! I started dosing sugar to battle the algea outbreak (this is a carbon source that feeds bacteria allowing phosphate and nitrate consuption to be increased) and after about 3 weeks of doing this, the tank looks great, the water is crystal clear and I can clearly see from end to end (thats almost 12' of perfect clarity!!!) My Acans and Micros are really starting to spread! The remaining fish, Leopard Wrasse, Yellow Tang, Lawnmower Blenny, Firefish and Chromis are doing great, and I hope to pull the cleaner shrimp some time soon, so I can treat for red bugs (I knew some of the pieces I picked up had them)... Once that is done, my goal is to finish my garage overhaul so I can then build a new canopy for the tank.
Thanks for your patience, and support! I'll try to get some new pics as soon as I do a little coraline clean up.

Just wondered into the big tanks section and read your summary and watched all the vids... This is the most beautiful, amazing, and creative tank I have ever seen. Congrats and good luck !
I'm sure you could pay it off by having NR members take a tour... I would pay 20 bucks just to see it in person !

+1 on sugar dosing bro! I'm doing that right now. Into my 3rd day of sugar dosing (: anyway post us some before and after pics eh! (: also, do you dose extra good bacteria when dosing sugar? like mb7 bottle etc? let me know (:
Anyway,
I am sorry about your loss. don't take it too hard alright, just remember to come back to us with a bang!
I am of one looking forward to your BIG BANG!

Cheers!

Thanks everyone for the kind words, and sorry for the lack of pics... I don't think I've taken any pics of the tank since the ones posted so I don't have any before and after.

I've been working on my garage for the last couple months, just about done... And remodeling 3 bathrooms for a friend of mine.
I'm hoping to sell off some Bam-Bams to cover some new additions, if anyone is interested check out the sale thread.
