Is that a Proclear skimmer, if so which model? If so how do you like it?

About your sump....did you build those baffles yourself or is it one of those insert kits? I'm asking because I am looking at a sump kit on ebay like this one for my new 125g

heres the tank with 71 pounds of live rock in it. thats all i have to buy, i have 20 more pounds from a mature 10g tank that i will put in there. as for the skimmer its a old ProClear 75 i think. not quite sure on that though because its between 4 to 8 years old.(it came with the tank before we bought the house.) it never worked good when it was a fish only tank but now its works great. the old tank was custom and had weird dimensions and had bad flow and just sucked all around, and was scratched badly before we got it.

and for the sump/refugium i made the baffles and put them into a aga 29g. wasn't that hard, took one night to put it all together and dry in a day. works good but the acrylic is a little thin i noticed, it bows on the baffles that don't have any water on the other side to counter the pressure. but i just put in 1" pvc between the baffles to stop the bowing.
thejanitor86
well i just aquascaped. i will need more rock but for now its fine. i loved the way it turned out.

some hermits and the starfish i found on the beach.

thejanitor86
i installed my new lights today, they are 2x250w halide with electronic icecap ballasts.

more pics to come.
thejanitor86
some new corals that i put in this week.

the tank is doing really good so far. i am loving having a larger tank. but i still love my nano.
vike50brian
I F*#$ing love your setup. Nicely done, cant wait to see more.
thejanitor86
some new additions to the tank.

i am adding fish in very slowly, and only putting in fish i love, unlike my nano where i just put in whatever cool things the lfs had then ran out of space. more to come soon.

Where do u get the anthias? I used to live around st auguie. but moved to orlando and go back up to visit. How does that starfish work in the tank, is it reef safe? cause i've caught 1 before but havent put in my tank.
thejanitor86
i get most of my stuff along with the anthias from a place on US1 called Pet World, but i also get stuff from Jax and Palm Coast.
as for the starfish the only thing i have seen him eat is small snails and food pieces that sit on the floor. he can't really climb rocks or the glass all that well but he moves around on the sand very quickly. i have some zoas, gsp and a plate coral on the sand and he has never messed with them so i figure he is reef safe.

dopamine
love the rockwork!
neuwave
Pet world...lol from him? Dan I think was his name. I used to go to that place all the time. When they had the saltwater in the back of the store in the little room. That's cool i'll have stop by when i go visit my family. Also you said in Palm Coast? That's where I grew up, when did they put a fish shop there? And where at? I'll definitly have to check it out.
NanoClown
nice setup i just got a 90 also i was wondering what are you useing for flow?
thejanitor86
ok sorry i have been away from this post for awhile. yea Dan is a nice guy and they have added more tanks so they place has alot more satwater stuff than he did awhile back. anyway there is two places i go in palm coast. one place is off of S.R 100. and its called Just Fishes. and the other place is on US1 just north of where 100 meets US1 and its called Saltwater world. now i have been going to a place in jax beach off atlantic blvd. great place. lots of show tanks set-up. its called Ocean Reef. for flow in the 90g i have the return pump and a koralia 3. i will be getting another pump because their seems to be a dead spot of flow. but only some mushrooms are there so i am not too worried. everything is growing quick and looking good. the only thing i am concerned about is the temps peak at 82F so its fine as long as it doesn't get hotter than that. but i still am going to add some fans to get it a little lower. i dont have the money to buy a chiller. more pics are coming soon.
Kraylen
Nice tank.... you might catch heat for putting a dragonet into such a young tank but to each their own!

Chiller is key!
thejanitor86
yea i thought i would but nothing yet and he still looks as fat as when i got him. i have been puting in some live rock from some nano's i have and their were no fish in the nanos, so the rock were covered in pods.
The refugium should keep the population up. Also, at night I see alot running around on the glass and rock. Yeah, I don't think I will need a chiller unless I am going to add a lot more pumps. I'll just have to wait and see. The tank being in a closet with no vent isn't helping anything. This weekend I am installing a bathroom vent to exhaust the heat out of the closet and am putting a small AC duct into the room. I think that is all I will need besides a fan blowing across the surface.
thejanitor86
also i just was wondering if the coralvue octopus skimmers are good. i am looking to get one of there new extreme series or there pro series. which size should i get. i just need to make sure it fits in the sump.
thejanitor86
so i have been away for awhile and except for a few corals i haven't done much, tank is doing good everything is growing nice. and i have some pics to post.
so first is a full tank shot.

starfish i got n beach is still doing good.

and my plate eating clam. lol

well thats all for now.
thejanitor86
well its been awhile since i've posted here due to lack of time and that i'm getting married. not much has changed except that the corals are growing. some faster than i would like others nto fast enough. but thats how it goes. i got a few new things. so ill just post the pics i got.

PBUEHH
looking good, hope my dad's 90 turns out something like that tongue.gif
thejanitor86
been gone for so long i will be posting updated pictures though not much has changed, no money to add anything so i am just enjoying letting it be and watching stuf grow. my parents are trying to sell the house and most likely the tank with it. but he said he definitely wants to put a tank in new house so it sounds like another project starting up soon. maybe bigger, better, and awesomer.
Toomin
i am sad to hear that you are closing down the tank... sad.gif
thejanitor86
well it will still be there. it will be owned by someone else though. but i am soon to start another nano of my own. like a 29g cube or something. maybe if i can find a deal on a tank only here.
germanthunder81
New pics!!!!
thejanitor86
