Off the top of my head it is like 2 1/2 feet deep.
I am going to hang this fixture, and if it doesnt give me the results I want I am going to gut it and use the original hood and a better reflector.

~30 inches sounds about right. I would expect a 250W to struggle to light the bottom with that reflector unless you only wanted shrooms on the bottom or maybe some lower light LPS.
Here is a link to the LB review comparing them to lumenarcs. They blow them away. A 250 would be plenty bright on that tank with an LB based on the PAR readings in the link below. I have a bunch of LBs on backorder for my new setup so I'll see first hand then. When I get them, I am actually going to run fewer lights on my 110 and expect better PAR. We shall see...
http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2008-06/review/index.phpThe down side of the LBs is that they need to be mounted high above the water. That helps with heat, but most canopies need to be modified to allow the high mounting height.

I plan on hanging the light so that might even be better.

Yep. I'll post my results in my threads if I ever get mine

I think the 6 weeks of back order is about up. I'll put two large ones over my 5 foot 110, 1 large one over my frag and three minis on my new setup. I'm going to gut my existing lights just like you are talking for bulbs and ballasts.

don't be too set on no inverts with the coris, especially if you get him small. i clean a customer's 125 every month and he has an ungodly amount of shrimp that should never be mixed--2xsaron shrimp, 2xcamel shrimp, 2xtiger pistol shrimp, 2xcleaner shrimp, 2xcoral bandeds, and a purple reef lobster--in with a BEAUTIFUL 9" red coris. he got the coris from deathco when it was 2" long against my advice, and the only thing it bothers are his astreas, but only when they fall off the rocks and land upside down. he keeps his tank WELL fed though.

Sweet. My friend that I used as a guinea pig for the ballast mods got his Phoenix bulbs a few weeks ago. They look soooooo much better than the stock bulbs. The only thing I like better than the Phoenix bulbs is my new LED fixture over my 4g pico.

I am trying I promise! Christmas was expensive as usual and none of it was for tank stuff!
I also need to get the fish out of my 37 as well as the gobs of corals I just dont have the room for in that tank. My once beautiful reef has turned into a frag tank.

Reading this thread is very interesting. Losts of anticipating readers waiting for you to add water to your tank.
I can't wait to see your work on this tank. Your other tank is just amazing.
I will be following for future updates.
