Hehe, better get used to it, because they breed very easily. If you want to raise the babies, you'll need to remove the larvae and put them into a separate tank with low flow and light. They eat baby brine shrimp from day one.

Sexies are supposed to be as easy to raise as peppermint shrimp.

Was thinking of dividing the 10g and keeping each on their own side, but would rather not to allow a fish to be in the tank as well. I can get asterina stars from a LFS (one block from where I work) to feed the harlequins. If I can't for some reason I'm sure I can pay people to ship them to me o_o

It is the one and only LFS where I live (don't actually live in Sacramento, but in Woodland about 20 miles away). He only carries a few saltwater fish at a time, but can order most anything I want it seems. He has been keeping SW tanks since the 80's I believe and knows his stuff.

I think the stocking for the 10g is figured out...

5x Sexy Shrimp (oh so sexy)
2x Harlequin Shrimp (also sexy?)
Yasha/Pistol team
Random cheap coral
10# LR or so

Koirala Nano
~4g acrylic fuge (going to DIY this one)
50w Stealth Heater
80w Orbit Light Fixture

Talked to the owner of my LFS after work today. He said his wholesaler usually has sexy and harlequin shrimp in stock. Told him how to sex the harlequin and asked if he would mind sexing a pair for me when my tank is ready for livestock. The owner is like an encyclopedia, but has never really dealt with harlequin shrimp, hence not knowing how to sex them.

I'm hoping to have a group of seven sexy shrimp and a male/female pair of harlequin in one or two weeks. Probably more like two, but one can hope :-p

The sexy shrimp will cost me $9 each, which is cheap compared to other places around me, so I'm hoping the harlequin will only be ~$25 each. He also sells chocolate chip starfish for $9 each, about $5 less than others again.

Fear not, when the tank is stocked there will be more pictures than anyone will ever care to look at of them ^^)b

Need to get a design started to see if I can integrate names into it at all though...rambling...

Changed the shrimp. I like the second one better personally.

For some reason when I make the image in my sig link back to this thread it puts a funky dotted line through the image...except for the shrimp part of it which means it is in the background of the sig area and is only showing through the transparent part of the image...rather annoying problem really.

Also, I can get sexies in bulk for around 5 bucks a piece if I pick up 30 or more, not a problem.

harlequins are awesome btw.. i had a customer once get a couple and didnt know they ate starfish lol.. im sure you can guess what happened after that.

Got the OK from Chris to use the nano-reef name/logo on the sexy shrimp badge! Have to stop at my LFS after work to talk to him about picking up some snails for my tanks, might take a while.

I'll work on the sexy sig this evening some time! Might make a version for harlequin shrimp and perhaps other specialty creatures if anyone would like.

That would be helpful, but it is the buyer's responsibility, not the seller's. Besides, most people (who don't do research on their own) don't want to hear advice when they go to buy something...
