I'm going to try - I just got home from work and I have to go to another job shortly - No time to try and assemble the screen idea or get brine shrimp hatchery going tonight.

Hopefully I can squeeze out one more night and do the 2 projects tomorrow - The tank did okay overnight last night - I stopped the utube overflow and return pump - I moved the heater into the display and popped in a little jebo powerhead to keep circulation going. I rigged a small LED in the corner to try and keep any hatchlings grouped together. Will have to do it again tonight

Lalani (or anyone really) - Do you have exp. hatching BBS? Decapsulate or not? I made seamonkeys, but that was a looooonnnnnngg time ago.

Based on Lalani's hatch, I estimated mine to possibly occur tonight or tomorrow night. My goal today after work is to pickup a couple of 2 litre water bottles and get crackin' on a bbs hatchery so the fry'll have something to eat. Even if there's no hatch, I'll at least have a little exp. with hatching bbs.

I could be wrong, but the tail looks wider, like a female. If one is producing eggs and one is not, then you may be right about it being a male.

Just a heads up, mainly for yankee, my female is full of eggs again today.... Only 3 days since she released her last batch!

OK so another question....I am assuming that the other is molting in the cave because she is up under the top and kinda pale. Could she have released her eggs under there and be watching over them? Or do they not do that sorta thing?

My sexies have always molted during the night. What do you mean by pale? Is there any way you could get a pic of her? And my female sexy only releases her eggs at night also. She will send them off into the water column, clean up, molt, then sleep. (Yes, I'm actually keeping track of her.)

I think its awesome that you keep track of her! She moves up and down inside the cave so I know she is alive but she just looks pale in color but its also dark in there! I cant get a picture of her because when the lights are on my muchrooms cover the entrance! Why? Should I be worried?

I wouldn't worry about her unless this has been going on for several days. When did she start with this behavior?

Meanwhile - My 2nd female is verified with eggs - I know I posted she had them a couple days ago, but then I had my doubts. Caught her in the front of the tank preening this afternoon when I got home from work and saw the egg sack.

Brine shrimp hatchery is setup in the extra bathroom in case we have a hatch tonight. The hatchery started kinda late so hopefully there'll be bbs in the morning before work if I need them.

I'll get some pics of the larvae tank and hatchery tomorrow - I have a HOB with carbon running on the larvae tank right now and the hatchery is nothing more than the DIY water bottle system. Neither are a big deal really, but I know you people love pictures.

Yup, 3 days. I only have two sexies in my pico, one female and one male, so I'm absolutely sure.

It's like when a couple of your friends are pregnant at the same time, suddenly all they ever talk about is babies and shopping for baby clothes or throwing baby showers and the next thing you know you're at the club by yourself making bad decisions because the good friend who's suppose to stop you from doing these things couldn't be there because of her "condition" and is at home instead doing prego yoga. So yeah, I feel a little left out.

No hatch last night and I'm not sure if my bbs culture is working either. Maybe there will be some bbs in the bottle when I get home tonight.

I may have to adjust the bbs hatchery as I seem to be getting a lot of settling at the bottom

On another note, my shrimps have been pretty restless these past couple of days. They're moving around a lot and the male is being spastic, swinging his butt vigorously more than usual. I don't know what's going on but my corals are not happy.

I hate this hobby sometimes....Well my sexy hiding in the cave died some time in the night and I cant find the other one. If he/she doesnt come out pretty soon I am going to look for it. My water is ok as far as perams. I did do a water change day before yesterday maybe the temp or salinity swing was to great? Idk but this sucks!

No everything's fine, it's just that the sexy shrimps are all hyperactive all of a sudden and are roaming all over my tank more than they normally do and therefore upsetting my corals.

Maybe they are getting a little frisky! Have you noticed any....... mounting?

Uh... I've seen a few rounds of leap frog but I wouldn't call it mounting.

It doesn't take long for them to finish.

So one sexy is dead and the other one is just gone. My wife and I took all of the rock work apart and the hob filter, and nothing! I only have two blue leg hermits and two margerite snails. Could they have eaten the whole thing in a matter of 6 hrs shell and all? All levels are good and all of the corals are doing fine. I just dont get it one minute they are fine and dancing and the next they are dead.

I dont think I will get anymore right away I kinda would like to know what killed them! Heres the thing on that note, I posted a thread in the Id forum about my sand piling up all over my tank and got few replys because I couldnt get a pic. Now I am hearing a scratching like sound coming from the tank, its not like a clicking more like a scratching noise. Point is......Could I have something in the tank that ate one and just killed the other one? Maybe a hitchhiking worm or mantis?

And no cuddling?

And the scratching noise may be a snail. When they graze on small algaes which grow on top of coralline, their 'teeth' will make a scratching noise on the hard coralline. But, it could also come from a rock crab. They dig their way through rocks.

Thanks lalani.......The sexies were the only ones that were affected so thats why I wonder if something killed them. I know it was probably something to do with the water but its just wierd! Its only a 3g and I have stared for long periods trying to find something new and.....nuttin! I am gonna try to rig up a red light and look after dark!

Matty, I read your thread about the sand piles when you first posted it. Very strange! I had my first casualty in my tank yesterday. When my lights came on one of my red legged hermits was dead. That was 8 AM. I am pretty sure it had just been pulled out of the shell. 1/2 it's legs were in one spot and the rest of the body and legs were still together. I figured I would leave it for the day for the others in the tank to nibble then take it out at night. I have 3 other hermits in there and my 5 sexies so a lot more CUC then you have but.... by about noon the only sign of it was a few little red tips from it's legs. I couldn't believe how fast the ate it! I am thinking that your 2 hermits could have eaten it in the 6 hours.

If you figure out what happened let us know. And let us know if you figure out what the heck the sand pile maker could be too!

I bought 3 more last night to bring the count up to 5! They are all eating shrimp pellets and one has molted so I'm assuming they are all doing well. They all seem to really love the rics in my tank and spend most of their time hosting in them.

Another question, does anyone know about their compatability with Pom Poms? I've read that they are both peaceful species but I just wanted to double check with someone who might have experience with both. Thanks.
