Mine host the Xenia. It's funny to watch. Little Xenia tree with sexies instead of apples hanging from its branches. They also pop out babies for us every couple weeks. So far unsuccessful at raising the little buggers but working on it.

They're pretty easy to catch, ime. Use a net or your hands and just have patience. Helps to remove some rocks before attempting!

I've caught them a few times but there was no rock and only an inch of water, I finally have the aqua scape together so I don't really want to tear it down. I'll try luring them with food, see if that helps.

Can I keep them in my Fluval Edge when it's matured? At the moment there is nothing but hitch hikers - star polyps, bristleworms, bubble algae and bad params. But when they've stabilised ...

You can put sexies in pretty tiny tanks, just make sure you can keep the water stable.
To the guy asking about sexies and hermits, I've seen my sexy shrimp ride a hermit shell multiple times in the last few months.
Also: I'm with dudes son that they teleport.
Has anyone seen them molt? Out of all the inverts in my tank i have NEVER seen a sexy molt yet.

I had asked about the Hermits and you're right they have been no problem at all.
What has been a problem though is that they have decided that they really like one zoa rock I have and relentlessly pick at it. They don’t seem to be eating it, but they annoy it enough that the polyps will eventually fall off. So I’ll occasionally find one rolling around in the sand. When I do I can reattach it elsewhere and they do fine. So a rock that once had about 50 heads is down to about half of that now. They don’t really mess with anything else in the tank.

I haven't seen one of my sexys molt, but have found a discarded molt last week. They are interesting little buggers, and I have kind of given up on trying to catch them. I guess they get to stay.

I think something or someone is murdering my sexy shrimps. I started with 3, now I'm down to one. The sole survivor is hosting a GBTA. My main tank is currently fish-less. I have 2x peppermint shrimps, 1x Cleaner shrimp, 2x dwarf blue leg hermit, 2x zebra hermit, one scarlet hermit, and a mix of snails..

He was the only one left the LFS had out of five. Well, I couldn't just leave him there all by himself!

It's a female if you havent ID it yet...
Females have two large spots on their largest point and the males have a solid white line. Female's being larger in the body and males being slim,This has always been my understanding of how to sex them.

I lost my sexy. I started with 2, they both disappeared then I seen 1 being all buddy buddy with my gorilla crab. Got rid of the crab, later got an emerald crab and the same 1 was always within an inch of the emerald crab, no matter where it was at. Now I haven't seen that one in a couple weeks. Then again my emerald has decided to hide a lot more too.
On a better note, I bought another sexy last night to put in my 3g. If I can ever find the one in my 20 again I'll put it in my 3g too so they can prance around like the sexy shrimp they are.

Thinking about picking up some sexies for my 12g nanocube dx. The only other livestock would be some snails, 2-3 red legged hermits and a pair of baby onyx clowns. Would this be a good setup to house 3 sexies?

Is so interesting how all sexy shrimp are different... since i had hosted different pairs and non had ever munch on corals as mention here..
and so far favorite pair is my recent one why?... my female loves to eat hairy algae at first i didnt believe so i stare for 5min and yes she is on a algae diet lmao.. and male eats more pellets than algae but he still munch algae too..
so best of luck to all the people with coral munch sexies cause mine rather go to algae than corals lol..

Best way to catch anything from fish to shrimps is at night, best if room is pretty dark 12-2am get a flashlight with a piece of cloth spot them and scoop them with net or hand, they are pretty slow when sleepy lmao.
i always do that with best results. i put them in a float quarantine tank and then on the morning i move them where i want

I've got a sexy in my 29 biocube and see him all the time, hosting something new every day. A 14 gal is by no means too large for a sexy, you just have to make sure it's tankmakets won't eat it. Your stocking plans sound safe to me.
Edit: that being said, my little guy looks really lonely all alone in the 29, so I just ordered 6 more. =)

I just got 3 sexies a couple of days ago and I could just watch them wave their butts around forever. I don't have too much in my tank yet, but one has hosted a zoa frag (havn't seen seen him picking at it, just hanging out around it). The other two usually hang out together.

I'm having a hard time telling the sexes. Do I have all males?
