I've already set up some trades. Can't wait.

I was on fragswapper last night and there's already some good stuff up. I picked up a two-headed frag of neon green candy cane for $10.

Less than a month away. smile.gif

I'd love to go, but i really don't have anything to swap. Do people sell frags there too?

Not a problem, all you need to bring is cash. There will be sponsors as well as regular hobbyists with frags (and fish, clean up crew and dry goods) for sale. To tell you the truth, this will be my fifth swap and I've never traded, only bought from others. The raffle is usually pretty good, too.

Great! I'll definately be there! I'm probably about 4hrs away and I've never been to anything like this so what all should I bring?

You'll want to bring a cooler to keep your new frags in, a towel or two and some extra bags/tupperware in case a bag that a frag is in leaks. That's it. At home you may want to set up a qt tank or be prepared to dip your new frags, the unfortunate part of a swap is that if you don't know exactly where the frags are from you could get some unwanted hitchhikers or diseases that you don't want in your main tank.

Yep, picked up a rbta for $40 a few days ago.
Kimberly63
What are you guys bringing? I'm bringing 4 frags of eagle-eye zoas and a large frag of green zoas. That's all I got though.

Do I need to set up a tank when I'm there to swap them? or can I bag them and have pictures available for people to see what they look like?

I'm excited! I also have some stuff that I'm not using like a half bag of live sand and a brand new hydrometer and other odds and ends - do people take stuff like this to sell/trade?

I'm not bringing anything but $$$.

Bags of frags with pics will work just fine. Folks will buy and trade anything reef related so feel free to bring all those odds and ends.

I'm bringing sinularia, red mushrooms, and of course cash. Do you have your eagle eyes listed on fragswapper? I'm definitely interested.

Don't forget a cooler and a heat pack to keep your frags warm.
scottyreef

No, I don't have them listed on fragswapper. I have 2 frags with 2 polyps on each and 2 frags with 1 polyp each. I will take pics of those later - they are closed because I was moving them around a minute ago

The green zoa frag has 20+ polyps

The whole frag is going on the right (green) and the ones on the left are the eagle eyes which are fragged

They do have yellow skirts but it's hard to tell under my crappy lighting.

i cant wait... i have already purchased some tubs blues.. but that was over a month ago... i cant wait.. im bringing cash!!

EDIT: if anyone here is planning on bringing stuff to sell post some pics on here... maybe people will buy stuff early... i know i have already bought some stuff early on frag swapper so i dont have to rush while im there
JustReef
Kimberly: I'll look for you and your zoas at the swap.

Scotty: I might be interested in some of your stuff, but not until after the swap.
Kimberly63
Should we have some sort of identification on our table spot or something so we are recognizable? like a small sign with our name so people can find us?

Where can I get one of those disposable heat packs and plastic bags for frags?
cmador
You will get a name tag at the door, that I just put my screen name on. There will also be a large map at the door showing the layout of all the tables and wherever you will be setting up at, you can mark your name on the map at the appropriate spot.

I don't use heat packs myself, just a cooler, but I would think you could find them at any store that has a hunting/fishing/backpacking section like a target or an army/navy store. As for bags, you can just use regular zip lock type bags or better yet the disposable tupperware that they usually sell right by the zip lock bags.

Maybe you can make the next all-Ohio swap which is in October, in Columbus. That's always a great one, too. I'm picking this up tomorrow:

nice im in NKY burlington,ky so eh LFS i werk at is World of petz
Matty1124
just wanted to see how everyone made out... i picked up two yumas one green with blue under back ground the other lime green with a strip on it for 20 bucks, a pink hammer for 15, and what were supposed to be tubbs but turned out to to be orange... have to contact seller... all in all a good day
Screename_116
It was a blast. I ended up buying eight frags and a bag of chaeto for only like $70. Some how two little brittle stars hitch hiked their way too..smile.gif.
cmador
Here's some of my loot:

Ocho Cinco
Go Blue!!!!
Matty1124
^ ? what is that?
Kimberly63
I made out pretty well! smile.gif I got pink and purple button polyps, some light pink zoas, fire n ice, brownish plain zoas for free, armor of god zoas and huge chocolate brown palys. I also got GSP, a small torch, and a pink ricordea. I ended up buying the Tropic Marin Pro-Coral Cure that they were selling by the door with the flatworm exit. It was $20 but kills all pests on corals including flatworms. I used it last night and it works pretty well.

I had a 3.5hr drive and I was happy because all my frags did fine. They're in a QT tank I setup next to the window (I don't have an extra light and the sun is free smile.gif )

I also sold all my frags making an extra $45 - which I spent as soon as I got. But I only spent about $50 of the money that I brought from home. My frag money was free money so I didn't mind spending that either. smile.gif

The only thing that I spent a little too much money on were the armor of God zoas - They were $10/polyp. THey were a 2-polyp frag so hopefully they do fine and I don't lose them.

I really wanted some orange zoas and thought at some point during the day that I had bought some but at home I realized I didn't sad.gif Oh well. maybe next year. I tried to figure out how much I would have spent at the lfs for all the stuff I got and I would have spent well over $250 so I'm pretty happy smile.gif

You did end up getting them! I looked at the picture and thought "that looks like one of the frags I sold!"

Looks good. Sorry don't remember who you were smile.gif Although my friend Holly sat and sold some of my frags while I was "shopping". She has no interest in reefing and I owe her big time for going with me and frag-sitting for me while I spent all my money.
o0xerog0o
This was my first swap, and definitely won't be my last! I had a great time up there, even though I only won one small thing at the raffle, a bottle of vitamin supplements for my tank...

Here's a list of what I walked out of there with:
-40# base rock - $35
-40# live rubble rock - $30
-Pulsing Xenia with red algae - FREE
-3 Long Polyp Leathers - $1
-Kenya trees - $1
-Yuma Ric. - $5
-Anthelia (didn't make the trip home - $5
-Radioactive Dragon Eye zoa's with some bright red polyps mixed in - $10

If I could do it again, I would have gotten the frogspawn I had my eye on for $14 as well as some of the pom-pom xenia I really wanted, but oh well, I think I got some killer deals while I was there...
Kimberly63
I keep kicking myself for not getting a rock of neon orange Australian-something button polyps/zoas that the guy in the back corner were selling - the one handing out the business cards for uberfrags.net. They were a gorgeous and when I decided to get them, I was short money and I'm still kicking myself sad.gif. Does anyone know what zoas I'm talking about and where I could get some? I can't find them on his site. No stalk on the polyps just encrusting on the rock.
