To get my MG up I dosed about 10ml per day of kent tech M then I dropped back to 5ml for daily dosing. The CA I dose about 2ml per day of Kent nano-reef and added some Kent Calium on top of that till I was up to normal then backed to about 1-2 of the Kent Nano Reef. Of course I have tons of SPS and some LPS that sucks my tank dry lol.

dosing? who does that crap? tongue.gif

Cheez, they went and closed it before I could comment.
I see many similarities between Rockfish and Mr. Coral in the way they respond to conflict.

Pismo, I hate to say this, but this is not a new thing.
This kinda attitude has been on NR on and off for a couple of years now unfortunately.
Believe me, I'm in a position to know.
It's one of the reasons I'm really glad I'm not a Mod anymore.
I have to deal with childish behavior at home all day long, but at least they have an excuse cause they're actually children!!
To come here and deal with it too was just too much.
Pismo, be sure to let us know if your order from Mr. Coral comes in okay.
Unfortunately we've seen some less than ideal situations with him.

DHaut
we don't go often. i can only drop $5.00 on a latte occasionally, lol.
animalmaster6
How does it taste though? I've seen really good looking hot chocolates and lattes that ended up tasting terrible.
DHaut
this place is on top of its game. you can't have crappy tasting drinks in brooklyn if you want to be in business for more than a month. and that's not really an exaggeration.

Weets, it's the place I got your coffee last time wink.gif

Does it have good hot chocolate?

Nice. I came home with a BC8 yesterday! only 25 bucks.

Now how to light it. I am thinking I have two choices

Choice One: 4 bulb retro of the new UVL lamps

Choice Two: Par 38 bulb

VOTING BEGINS NOW!!!!!
Weetabix7
PAR 38, although it depends what you want to keep in it.
DHaut
QUOTE (Weetabix7 @ Feb 21 2010, 11:23 AM) *
PAR 38

AdrianBryce
It will have a little of everything, Not being able to keep softies is the only real draw i can see with the Par38, that and not being able to use the lid.
Militant Jurist
Why couldn't you keep softies with the PAR38?
AdrianBryce
From what I have read(maybe misread), mushrooms and zoas, shrivel up and such under LEDs
DHaut
it puts out some high par, but you can cut that with different optics. throw some 80* optics on it and you should be able to keep SPS up high and softies down low.
AdrianBryce
That's what I thought, but wouldn't that cause lots of overlapping light?
DHaut
overlapping light?
AdrianBryce
around the outside of the tank.
DHaut
Nah, I use a mix of 60 and 80 optics over a 12x13 space 9" from the water an can grow SPS on the sandbed with no light spillover.
Needreefunds
hi wl peeps!

that is all, carry on please. happy.gif

Livestock update:

Just picked up an RBTA for 15 bucks!

On the Par38/BC8 front. I think I am going to get one and mod the lid with clear acrylic so I can still use it.

Whatcha think?

Dhaut - how do you have it configured?

Like this ...............60

More like that - there's no LED in the middle. I have the two 80s on the side where my rock wall is so that the upper parts of the rock get enough light. If I were you, I would try all 60s and raise the bulb up above the tank like mine first to see how things respond. You could always switch to 80s. Lenses are cheap.

It's definitely a unique look - different than T5 or MH. The shadows are much more pronounced and the light isn't a bright, even though it puts out as much if not more PAR. I guess the light is concentrated and targetted better.

in regards to the LED discussion...

after taking photos of a guy's LED lit tank, I'm not a fan. LMK when they come up with 14k LEDs

You mean individual 14k nodes? Because you can pretty easily get a 14k color by brightening/dimming white and blue LEDs, or just get a 12k PAR38 (close to a pheonix 14k) - http://www.nanotuners.com/product_info.php...products_id=623

My 20k PAR38 puts my 150w 14k phoenix bulb to shame, imo.
dtfleming
I think I know the tank ur talking about D. He didnt mix his blues and whites too well.

this^^

don't really care about par ratings - any decent T5, MH, or LED fixture will give you plenty of par for any coral. at that point, brighter means squat.

it simply comes down to aesthetics and photography. photography issues should be obvious. aesthetically...blue shimmer is just ugly.
