Well, that movie was a bit exaggerated. While the upper atmosphere is indeed very cold, it's not quite cold enough to be sucked down by a supercalifragilistic tornado and flash freeze everything. First off, the sheer forces needed to pull down that kind of air would warm it in the process.

Then again, I'm sure that in the founder's eyes, hell hath indeed frozen over.

it'd be okay for a couple years probably, but those things get ENORMOUS. Most of the largish tangs I'm not really a fan of in less than several hundred gallons.

Well, it's more like a religion. I'm a bit fan of astronomy and cosmology, so I read a lot of those kinds of articles. Every time that an article comes out about the influence of the sun (distance, activity, sun spot cycle, etc) upon the temperature of the earth, the climate folks come out and say "well yeah it does, but .... but.... here, look at this chart!!" Or when the average temperature is cooling, they say it a "minor deviation" and any slight increase is a "significant change." There's also the fact that the earth has an axis that itself rotates fully every 41,000 years. Sometimes we're closer to the sun and other times further way.

Oh, and my favorite: the climatologists who don't do global warming research have concluded that we may be approaching the brink of another mini ice age. Oops.

This may seem strange, but all of this snow and cold weather is making me want to start planning my outdoor work. I've got a $25 off a $50 purchase from a good online vendor, so I'm thinking of going to town with it. My house has some very boring landscaping out front (a couple of hedges, and then a tangled mess of ground cover and bushes). I think I'm going to rip it all out. My backyard is going to have the stone patio finished this summer, as soon as I can get the sand, but the plants are already in place there.

I heart lantana, cone flowers, daisies, blanket flowers, and whatever flower is in my av (I don't remember the name). Oh and hostas

All very nice. I especially like the giant hostas. that is because they look prehistoric

Its a columbine by the way we have double white flowers double white and maroon, and double blue. As well as 8 different types of hostas, 15+ types of coneflowers, around 5 types of blanket flowers, and one awesome spiky pink daisy that if memory serves correctly well have to replace this year. Oh we also have daffadills, tulips, croscus, mums, and oxalis. We like our flowers.
