Jeez. Ya'll are crazy.
I've got plenty of shipping supplies. I'll be honest though. I am in agony the whole time until the receiver tells me they've gotten my package safely and everythings okay. I pull on my ears and bite my toenails while waiting. I wuv my wittle corals. They've all been with me for so long.

Weets. I've got proof now that corals will grow under LED's. My purple digitata just put a bud out where I broke it off on the end, and the pink Pocillipora has about 5 buds showing. Yeaaaaaaaaaa!
I put several partially bleached (from shading) frags in my contest tank and they've all colored back up.
I've got a personal best "smallest table" A. efflo that is coloring up real nicely. I guess I better quite blubbering about it and get in there and take some pics to post.

I know exactly how you feel.
As many times as I've shipped, I feel exactly like that til I hear that everything got there okay.

That's great news on the LED's!!!
I think my Softies may be having a hard time adjusting even though I've got the LED's on at low intensity.
They're just not opening up like they used to.
I have an SPS piece that browned out under PC, I'm thinking of putting a frag of it in the Pico under the LEDs.

Sorry, sorry, sorry. blush.gif I know, I'm a slacker. Been a bit crazy over here. Weets, I will PM you this afternoon with what I can send for the swap.

QUOTE (Weetabix7 @ Dec 12 2009, 10:05 AM) *
Okay, for those of you who don't have shipping supplies on hand, I have an idea.
I could buy a few boxes and heat packs from our new sponsor ShipYourAquatics.com and then ship individual boxes out to you for the swap.
They only sell their insulated boxes and heat packs in lots of 8-10 or more, so it might not be practical for you to do it that way.
I'm looking at sending you one of these insulated boxes:
http://www.shipyouraquatics.com/shop/insul...ping_box_12968/
One of these heat packs:
http://www.shipyouraquatics.com/shop/heat_...acks-_10_count/
And a few 12x6.5 bags, 3 mil I think.
I would get the supplies in a lot, shipped to me.
Then I would assemble the box, toss in an unopened heat pack and some bags and mail them to you via Media Mail, which would be slow but cheap.
Preliminary estimates look like it would be about $7.50 total cost to you, and this would include costs for me to ship you the box.
I'd have to have you PayPal me the $$.
LMK if you guys are interested in this or not.

This could be great for me, please tell me if enough people are interested that you think you'll do this.

QUOTE (Weetabix7 @ Dec 12 2009, 01:33 PM) *
Hey guys, I just had this idea while on a walk with Finn the Horse-Puppy and wanted to share it with you.
Wouldn't it be cool if we could do a Nano-Reef Co-Op Tank?
Basically, it would be a tank populated solely by frags from N-R members.
However many frags you put into it, you could get that many frags out of it at no charge to you as long as you paid shipping costs.
It would be a great place to put some of those corals that certain of us have become known for, like those Bluish-purple and Red Zoas of Lani's, and my Green Encrusting Gorgonian.
Plus, it would also be a place that would be a good back-up for us if our tanks crashed or something.
It would not be a tank to keep stuff like GSP, cause you can get that anywhere.
Different members could also contribute to the equipment to set it up.
I dunno, I just thought it might be a fun idea to expound on.
Even if we didn't use it as a co-op tank to get frags out of, it still might be fun to set up a tank that showcased some of the different cool things that some of us have found and kept in our tanks.
Whatchu think?

I think this is a phenomenal idea. I don't think I have anything that many other hobbyists don't have/can't easily obtain, but still, what a tank thread this would be! biggrin.gif

Of course you're welcome here, silly, stop by any time!!!
I'm still kinda figuring how I'd do the tank, not sure how long it would take me to get it off the ground.

I don't think it would be unreasonable even to ask for a small membership fee to participate. We all know running a tank isn't free! The membership fees could be used to pay for the tank, equipment, and other expenses the person maintaining the tank will incur.

I'd chuck $25 or so bucks a year to participate.

But the person running the tank would have the privelege of enjoying all those corals for free as well.
I dunno, there's a couple sides to it.
I mean, who would pay for shipping costs for sending the frags to me for the tank?
If I did it, I would def want to have a very active tank thread for it, I'd want it to a special, cool N-R Community Project.

Lol, but I'm hard at work putting kiddo's to bed and cleaning up after the big ol mess Mama Sue left behind!! tongue.gif

I got 3 frags, all of them Faviid's, Favites, whatever.
My one good LFS has this great tank where they sell frags for $20 each or 3 for $50, and I got them all from there.
Will try to post pics after all the hubbub has died down.

Checking in real quick.

We just got back from NYC ( yes, me Lisa ) Saw the big tree and watched folks skate at Rockefeller Center.
Also stopped in St. Patrick's- incredibly beautiful and even larger than I thought- and saw all the lights and sights in between. Walked from Penn Station on the coldest night this season tongue.gif At least I can say I saw it once happy.gif

I think it is a great idea, but in thinking about it, I've also realized maybe it isn't realistic either for many reasons. Just organizing the whole thing, keeping track of it all, making the rules, and all the other major/minor details could quickly make it a very overwhelming project for anyone.

I noticed the Dallas-Fort Worth Aquarium Society is currently attempting a co-op and have a section in their forum dedicated to it:

http://dfwmas.org/Forums/viewforum.php?f=65

I too though for some time have been pondering the idea of how reefers can trade/buy/sell corals on a more fair level that doesn't break the bank. I may have an idea, but need to do a little more research before pitching the idea.

Well, I am finally home after making a mess at Weetie's, shopping with 2 active Grandsons for other persons than themselves. Not an easy task for them I might add. We came home, had pizza, finished the cookies that had chilled while we shopped & I cleaned up my own mess (thank you very much, Blondie!) before I loaded up to come home.

Let's see if I can get some pictures uploaded. PhotoBucket is doing maintenance right now.
