You mean I have to let my girls go to that?! Both of them? Awwww, man. They better learn to sew now, LOL.

The dress looks really nice. So does the munchkin prom picture. Tell her to wait! Live it up playing in the dirt before we move on to the dresses and gowns!

Crystal tried on her prom dress the other day.

" Dad, what do you think?"

ohmy.gif eek3.gif

" I think they sold you half a dress......."

She looked beautiful tho, but geez with all that material juss draggin' the ground, they could have put more towards the top, no?? tongue.gif

Exactly. Is 3 too early to ship Milana to a convent?
BibleSue
I hear you! I think I have prayed more for my kids since they left home than when they were there & I knew what was going on. The one daughter I have is doing well. Now she is having a third girl for me to start all over with! ohmy.gif The 6 yr. old in that last picture spends waaayyyy too much time with her teen & college age Aunts. Little Miss Grown Up! That is until her little brothers come up with fun kiddie stuff to do. laugh.gif

When my daughter was dating age, my husband told the guys he had a shot gun & loved new targets to practice on. True story!

Makes no difference Sue, they walk to school half nekkid in January around here, no lie.

The "new targets" line will work especially well for me I think. Considering my first career choice I think I'll do just fine in the boyfriend intimidation department, LOL. And they wear wash cloths to school up here in the winter as well. Ugh.

So I spent the last hour and a half or so taking lots of lovely blurry pics.
I was feeling inspired by recent improvements in my tank and Kap'n Char's arrival to actually take some tank shots instead of just macro shots like I usually do.
I kept taking pics and then looking at them on the computer and saying, "Why are they so blurry?? What am I doing wrong??!!"
Then I'd go change a setting or two, try again, still get blurry pics.
I finally got the brilliant idea to check the lens, where I discovered a blurry fingerprint in all it's lovely glory.
Gotta love the Lil Dudes. wub.gif rolleyes.gif
So I finally got some better pics. Some of them are still more blurry than I'd like, but I'm gonna foist 'em on ya anyway cause I refuse to spend all that time with nothing to show for it!!! tongue.gif
For anyone who might just be stopping by, I spose I should explain something.
I have a 30g with sump tank build that I'm working on, so I just consider this tank to be a temporary setup.
As a result, I've made no attempt whatsoever at aquascaping, and no attempt to make things look pretty.
Everything has been put in here with the health and happiness of the corals being the only consideration as far as placement goes.
I have the lovely eggcrate racks in there cause I have more corals in here than I really have room for and it's the only way I could accomodate everything.
With that being said, here's some pics, hope ya likes 'em.

Tank looks good weeties.
Mr. Fosi
Nice pics. smile.gif

With the huge influx of livestock I've had in the last couple months I've been kicking around the idea of a frag tank... I just don't know if I have the time to devote to it, not to mention a proper light fixture. An Odyssea 130W PC ain't gonna cut it. laugh.gif

Looks great Weets. That digita is growing well.

AdriftQuasar
I really like the way the digitata has branched out. Reminds me of some photos I have seen of Bonsai trees.

Nice corals and tank.
I'm still trying to get socially accepted around here, so when my wife told me that "Size does matter", I took that as a signal to get a new (for me) skimmer. This replaces my MRC-2 with the noisy and power hungry Iwaki 55

You're right. Craigslist. But nowhere near the personals.
And Weetie, you are so kind, but where did you meet my wife? She keeps me in line with a machete.
varanus37
We played bubbles today as well! That green digi is turning into a nice forest for you and those clowns look like some I've seen recently. Hmmm? Ah yes, over there in my tank. LOL. Nice.

A+ for the big skimming! I know it would be hugely expensive but how wicked of a cylinder tank would one of those volcano skimmers be? Ever seen those? They're like 4' tall and 2-3' across. Would make for some crazy 'scaping.

Bill

They had one in the Marine Education Center in Biloxi Mississippi before the hurricane, about 4 ft. in diameter, with a school of Lookdowns. Curved surfaces distort too much for my enjoyment though. Maybe I need different glasses.
Sorry for showing off, but I didn't know where else to show it. got it yesterday in Fort Walton Beach. Went to the Gulfarium too. They have an "Aquafarm" in addition to the usual dolphin and seal tricks. Craziest lfs I've ever seen. They are topnotch on taking care of livestock. but it was done on a major shoestring, with leftover equipment and space. I'm still cursing myself over forgetting my camera. I'll definitely be going back, and loaded for pictures!

Mr. Fosi
So... Thoughts on frag tank? Substantial additional time investment?

Probably determined by what you grow in it, ja? Prolly softies and LPS.

Volume? Lighting? I have a Koralia 4 that I'm itching to use.

Should I cross it off my list until I have more time?

IME, for all the effort and costs, I most likely could have propped just as much with a large frag rack. dry.gif

I did have fun with the build, but the hopes of making a few bucks to put toward my reefing addiction faded rather quickly. Meh, figure I lost about 5-6 hundy on the idea tongue.gif

Strictly my experience here only Isaac. wink.gif

Should you decide to give it a go- I wish you the very best of luck and I would like to be put on the list for a few frags of those sweet new additions you have picked up recently. laugh.gif
yardboy
My experience has been that if you are fragging stuff out of the main display, the frags will get shocked less if the frag tank is on the same system. This can simplfy upkeep, while essentially increasing the overall size of your system, which is less complicated than having multiple systems. That said, I've got three separate systems, full of frags and it can be a pain. But I never harbored any real aspirations to be a frag farmer, I have some major challenges to shipping, mostly called a day job.
But I have a 150 filled with coral that except for a couple of brains, all grew from small frags, so I am loathe to throw any of that away, but not too keen on disrupting the appearance of my display with a eggcrate frag rack, and if I don't frag, corals will die. I've got a green slimer branch within an inch of my blue tort, don't want to find out who would "win" Given that, do you think I'll say that a frag tank is a bad idea?
Mr. Fosi
Thanks for the replies guys. happy.gif

I don't have room to expand my home system (my wife would murder me) so it would have to be put together at school. Not a problem as I have a couple places I could set such a thing up but I feel as though I don't have the time to manage another system and I don't have proper lighting... Maybe I should just go with my gut feeling.

P'raps I will get my mitts on some neodymium magnets, do some DIY acrylic coating and make myself a mag rack or two for my home system.

If you think that skimmer is big you should see this guy's and the tank(s) that go along with it

http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?s=&a...st&p=160751

The link is to the post with the skimmer, but you should definately look through the thread and see what the tank looks like.
yardboy
Yep, I suppose there's no limit to how big of a skimmer you can make. Funny because I have a Euroreef on the 2-20L tanks on the right, and it seemed a good size, now with the ASM it looks like a bottle rocket.
At the Gulfarium they have a Living Seas exhibit (I swear I'll get pics next time) it's a 20,000 gallon tank and the skimmer is two stories tall! Essentially the same design as the one arwndsh linked to, just bigger.

As you saw, I jumped on it as soon as it was posted, pretty much, but when he responded to my PM he said that a local reefer had already said he wanted them.

Didja ever fell like you were just talking to yourself?

Found this overhead in my carport outside my back door. There are 7 in varying stages of builds.
Sorry it is blurry.

Better shot. These poor things get scared off their nests every time we go out the back door.

Bummer on the caps. The way you jumped on them I for sure thought he was talking about you when he said they were sold.

Nice nests. We've got some sparrow-type guys above our front porch that are almost kewl with me standing by them. I figure another week or so and I'll be able to stand there and take pics from about 4' away. Pays to be tall some days.

American Robin (Turdus migratorius)?
They are down here by the thousands in the winter, standing out in open fileds in the pouring, freezing rain, waiting for a worm to be flushed out of the ground. They take off as soon as it gets a little warmer to nest up north.

To Fosi, Having kept a number of frag tanks and tubs IMO its not worth it. The time and money spent, I dont feel I made enough back to cover the costs. If your truely looking to aquaculture corals, it take time to grow them out and not just be a "chop shop:" and cut fresh frags and sell them.

I have a magrack now the I just prune back corals as I need to and sell or trade them. That said, it can be done if you choose certain corals that are fast growers. Like monti caps, certain zoas, digis etc.

Now my next venture is breeding. I started to building my growout rack yesterday. Im sticking with clowns and maybe Kaunderns Cardinals.

That's what I think I am going to do. I don't have the time/space/money to do it right and I can't afford to take a loss on it right now.

That what I would do if I were going to do it. Fast growers are the way to go if you need to see a return. Slower growers might make more $$ in the long-run but if anything happens to your system you lose some or all of that future $$.

I think it's going to be a DIY mag-rack for me.
