Yeah, www.nano-reef.com/x gets filtered to: www.reefcentral.com/x. So just type www.nano - reef.com/x and readers copy/paste and delete the spaces. Starting a revolution, one spacebar at a time...
Got any cool mushrooms, zoas or acans for trades weetz? I've got bunches of rics, mushies, and a zoa frag I don't have room for...
How you like that hellolights t5? I might get that (or just use the 150w HQI I have sitting around) for a tank I'm building....mwahaha <<<evil scheming laugh.
You're behind the times dude, I'm on my 3rd T5HO setup now!
Sold the HelloLights one to knoxvegas.
I do REALLY like T5HO better than MH though.
I don't know what size tank you're building, but there's a 36" T5HO for sale right now for a great price in Hardware Classified.
Honestly, I am pretty low on available frags right now, just Blue Xenia and Encrusting Green Gorgonian.
Too bad, cause I'd LOVE to get some stuff from you.

Until they ban you.

They'll just edit or delete your posts once they find them.

That explains a lot. I was shocked when you said that your corals didn't like the alk above 8 dKH.
I first thought that your kit(s) were off but I did't want to make a "is it plugged in and turned on" suggestion to you. Didn't you also say some time ago that you thought your B-Ionic was too strong?
Inorite?
Yeah, I did say that about the Alk component of my B-Ionic.
I was having a heck of a time getting and keeping my Ca up.
Now I know why.

In other news, I placed an order for some dry components from Bulk Reef Supply and I hope they get here son b/c I am running low on the B-Ionic. I also scored a relatively cheap Pinpoint pH meter sans probe. I've tested the meter with a couple probes here at school and it seems to work just fine. I'll be buying a cheap chinese-made probe off ebay for $20-25 and we'll see how it goes.
Just in case you care, these meters allow a one or two-point calibration option (2-point is obviously more accurate). You can calibrate from from 4-7 and from 7-10 but not from 4-10. After some initial testing it is clear that in order to get accurate readings along the full 0-14 pH range one would need at least 4 points, a feature not available on the simple meters. Consequently, the readings are only good within the calibrated range and if you try to read higher or lower your accuracy gets progressively more whack the further afield you go.
Even so, this will save me from having to spend more $$ on alk test kits. I'll be doing the titrations with the meter with reagents I mix up myself. As long as I don't screw up the reagents, I'll have a much more precise measure of my alk than if I had used a colorimetric kit.
Cool score!
I hope it works well for you, I noticed you said you were disappointed in it's range of accuracy on your thread.
I can see how it would still be handy though, wouldn't mind having one myself.

I'm also working on putting together a bulk Ca test as well. Both the tests for Alk and Ca hardness are old, well-known tests and I have methods for both in my
Handbook of Common Methods in Limnology.
I have the 1974 edition but I think I will buy the later version I just linked. If anyone wants to buy my copy, you pay shipping and it's yours... After the newer copy arrives on my desk.

Sounds very promising, keep us updated on that!
