I really like this pic. ^^^
Okay, so here's a preliminary report on my experience with D-D H2Ocean Pro salt so far.
Let me give a little background to put it into perspective first though.
This tank has been a little "off" for the last 3 weeks or so.
I've seen tissue loss on my favorite Blue Caps, some of the polys on my Blasto Merletti have "squinching" up, and the tentacles on my pavona haven't been extending very well.
My bulb is old at 14 mos; I'm working on replacing it.
I ran out of salt and tried to get more locally to do quick WC's to improve things, but was foiled by the LFS who sold me the wrong thing, then told me they don't carry the right thing and refused to give me a refund.
At this point I ordered the D-D H2O salt, which took a week to get to me.
On Tues. I did a 1g WC in this 16g tank with water that was 2/3 old salt (Oceanic) and 1/3 D-D salt.
Pavona IMMEDIATELY looked enormously happier, saw overall better polyp extension, but watermelon zoas looked mildly peeved as well as the Blasto's. Blasto's looked happier next morning, like they were adjusting to the change. Hydnophora looked much happier as well.
The next day, Wed., I did another 1g WC with water that was 1/3 Oceanic and 2/3 D-D.
Pavona showed slightly less tentacle extension, hydnophora still looked very happy, watermelon zoas looked slightly happier, blasto's looked "squinchy" in some places and more extended in others, still seeing overall better polyp extension. Rainbow Yuma looks thrilled.
The very mild negative reactions I honestly think are due to adjustment to the difference in salt and I feel guardedly optimistic about this salt so far. I think the reactions of the tank on the whole have been positive. I also think it's still early to come to any solid conclusions.
I will continue to report on my experiences with this.
So far I haven't measured any parameters of the WC water since it's still been mixed with the old salt.
I'll try to do that when I make a batch of pure D-D H20 salt.
The salt seems to dissolve and mix quickly and well, but I do see a small amount of sediment at the bottom of the bucket, resembling sand or coarse salt.
