Think you might start a craze with that nudi!
Maybe we can just keep passing him around NR.
When he cleans up one person's tank, he can move onto someone else with an Aipatasia plague!
It would be interesting to see how many tanks we could eventually move him through.
Thanks Monk.

I have some good news for a change!
It looks like this tank may be rounding the corner.
It's looking better today.
It's not all the way back yet, but many of the corals are looking happier and almost back to their old selves, including my clove polyps that haven't opened for a week and a half or so.
I don't have the brown, stringy algae all over my corals anymore, the only place it's showing up is on the front and sides of the aquarium. Guess it's time to do some cleaning!
I'm gonna give it a couple more days and if it keeps improving I'm hoping to finish moving over all of the frags that I had planned on keeping in this tank.
Yay for me!!!

Well, I'm glad this is getting better too.
I thought that since you mentioned "stringy", it could be a variety of dinoflagellates and I've been having a serious issue with them for a while. Mine are burgundy, though there are several varieties. It looks like water changes help, of course, and a reduced photo-period kills them too. I also read that some species of dinos produce toxins, so maybe your corals didn't like too many of those, but that's pure speculation. I'm sure you know best.
BTW, very pretty pix of macro algae (I'm serious).

I was thinking dinoflagellates too and had already started mixing water for the WC and no lights strategy to deal with them when they started to go away and the tank started looking better. Right now I'm gonna hold off on doing anything to see if things continue to improve on their own.
Thanks for the compliments on the macro's. I'm hoping to do some cool stuff with macroalgae's soon.

The clownfish isn't hosting anything, he just hangs around with the Yellow Coris Wrasse a lot.
My kids want to name him Nemo (predictably), but I've resisted officially naming him anything just yet.

hard decision...I like all three.
I say no on number two because there's a lot of brain corals in the contest already.
And my bias is for macro shots, so number one would win, but not without much debate.

#2.
The 3rd gets lost to the star polyps. Even though their may be many brains I think your pic is awesome! you lose yourself in a weird dimension. I really like 2.
the others give you a sense on size and dimension but 2 is unique. kudos on that shot.

Thanks for all the input guys.
Only thing is, everyone has such a different opinion I'm not sure which one to go with!
I think I might try to take a few more pics of the blasto merletti in the first pic and see if I can come up with something better.
I like the Brain pic better too (thanks dopamine!), but dshnarw is right that there are a lot of brain pics. A blasto pic would stand out from the crowd better.
Things are still improving slowly in this tank.
I don't see any of the brown, stringy algae now.
I think what it really needs is for me to just leave it alone and allow it to stabilize on it's own. That's what my gut tells me anyway.
I was fishless for 12 yrs., and I think the biological filter (i.e. LR) is just trying to adjust to the addition of 2 fish in a fairly short timeframe.

Here's some pics I took today.

Yet another shot of my Blasto Merletti. I keep putting shots of this one up cause it photographs so well. I think it actually looks better in the pic than in real life!
The next shots are of a couple of corals that are only in here temporarily. I've had to shuffle a lot of stuff around after my prop tank crashed.

Purple Polyp Yellow Monti from Nano-Paul. This is my favorite piece that I got from him for Christmas, and it's weathered all of the prop tank problems quite well as you can see.

This is my Blue Polyp Purple Monti Cap. It faded some due to the recent stress but I think I'll be able to bring it back without too much trouble.

I did a whole bunch of work on this tank the other day, and discovered a couple of interesting things that I didn't even know were in here!
I was moving my Brain Coral and discovered what looks like a really cool macroalgae on the side of the hard skeleton. They're a pretty red color and are kind of mushroom shaped, like those fungi you see growing on the side of trees in the forest. I'm hoping to be able to get a good pic of them to post when I get my new camera.
I also learned an interesting thing about my Yellow Coris Wrasse. I'm gonna sound like a total n00b saying this, but I didn't know until a few days ago that they were supposed to have a sandbed to sleep in. My tank is barebottom, and the wrasse hasn't seemed to have a problem with this. This morning I discovered that he's been sleeping under the bottom of one of my pieces of LR, wedged between the bottom of the tank the rock. If I hadn't known better, I would've thought he was dead!
I'm supposed to be getting some Blue Cloves and Rhodactis Mushrooms in today to put in this tank. I'll try to post pics of them as soon as I'm able!

Isn't he cool looking?!!
I moved him into my 5.5g quarantine tank, which is my only healthy tank at the moment. I made sure to put him in right next to 3 aiptasia. He must have been hungry, cause I swear he immediately POUNCED on one of them!!! It was the coolest thing to see, like something out of a nature documentary.
These pics aren't quite as clear, but here's pics of him munching his dinner:

RILLY???

Well here's some more!!!
These were taken with my brand new Canon Powershot A720 IS that I got in the mail today. I'm still figuring out the cam and hope that as I better learn how to use it, I'll get even sharper pics, but here's today's offerings:

These are some mushrooms I just got in a trade with dopamine. They look even cooler and prettier in person but I'm having a hard time capturing all the colors in a pic yet.

This is the side of the skeleton of my Brain Coral. I took it to show the cool mushroom shaped red growths that I just found on the side of it. Does anyone know what these are? I've never seen them before.

This is just a close-up shot of my biggest piece of LR in this tank. I wanted to show the really cool thick plates of coralline that I have on it. There's also one or two baby aiptasia for the Berghia Nudi to munch on!

SWEET! see I get that in my pics too. makes them look white where is really more blue and grey. I feel like a lot of people do post picture editing on their computers to tone down the whites and make them pop more.
I also get some of those growths. You are talking about the purple flakes right? i get them off the edge of my GSP.
