I like your method Sea Slug. What salt do you use?

I've used just about everything on the market over the years and I prefer Red Sea Salt not the Red Sea Coral Pro , just the regular Red Sea Salt works best for me .

MAJOR BUMMER TODAY...........My wife woke me in a panic Tuesday morning telling me the Butterfly tank water was freezing . I ran down to the basement to find that the heater had stoped working and temp droped from 79 degrees to 70 degrees . I broke out my emergency heater and called in for a vacation day at work . Next step was to slowly raise temp back up to normal... very slowly . All fish looked good except for my prize Red Sea Golden Butterfly ohmy.gif . He was having a hard time swiming and his color was washed out . He was still eating but breathing heavy . This morning he looked a little better , but not right . On my way home my wife called me on my cell , she said she just got home from work and the Golden Butterfly was dead , but all the other fish were doing fine . Now everything is back to normal but I lost my favorite fish , he couldn't handle the temp swing .
RIP Golden Boy . tears01.gif

I don't know if this has been hit on in this forum or not, but is a tek 4-bulb fixture enough to light a 40B for a mixed reef? Basically, I want to know if it would be able to sustain a limited number of SPS corals kept high in the water column. Thanks.
agileTuan
I have the Nova Extreme 4 bulbs t-5 fixture. Its PAR is lower than that of the Tek and my clam is doing pretty good.

Thanks. I'm loving the vortech, it's a 20. Right now it's set to Reef Crest mode and maybe 50% power, as the corals are still adjusting. I plan on slowly speeding it up though. Plenty of flow along with the two AC filters. smile.gif
SpankythePyro
oh noes a tang in a 40br!?

btw I might be getting a 40/50br soon wink.gif I'm thinking of creating a website just for it and having a live webcam while the lights are on in the tank
kirtdog
here's mine. No overflow yet, saving that for the big reef tank I want to build plus I am afraid of the sump or tank overflowing in the case of a power outage.

plainrt
can i put my 40b missing a few inches of height in here?????

Hey guy's I'm new to Nano Forum's, as well as the Reef keeping hobby altogether. I bought this tank about two weeks ago, and the part's are slowly starting to arrive.

Thing's I have:

Tank
Stand Framed
29 gallon tank (sump)
10x 24" t-5's 14 watt's a piece (5x 10k- 5x 430 actinic, bought for 4$ a piece they will come in use???)
400w MH retro kit
5x 3/4" bulkhead's (closed loop and returns from sump)
All kinds of plumbing supplies left over from 125 FW tank build
Loc-line for returns
Home made ABS Overflow (thanks for the idea Stoney)

Thing's I need:

Skimmer (thinking vertex or octo 100)
Closed Loop Pump
Canopy
1" bulkhead for durso stand pipe in overflow
Fuge light
RO system (I've put the one off for too long and my 10g nano is sufferering because of it)
Money to get all of the "Thing's I Need" list

Here's a few pic's of the progress so far.

Tank:

Stand Framework:

Overflow:

Hoping the CORRECT size bit comes today, recieved the wrong one from an ebay seller last week and this one is taking forever to arrive...

flipit13
here is a pic of mine finally getting there...

QUOTE (Uhuru @ Dec 27 2007, 08:20 PM) *
well you could always run DE bulbs like a phoenix 14k or SE bulbs like an aquaconnect 14k, those are pretty blue, to be honest you would be fine with dual 150w phoenix bulbs even for SPS and just leave room to add T5s in the future if you decide

I will be running an aquaconnect 14k + 4xT5 HO on my 70g it should look something like this:

damn, this tank is nice....
JakeF150
can any one please tell me whats the size is that ? length, height and width ?
