I have a Florida biotope tank with 4 flower anemones, you should check out my tank thread in Member's Aquariums. I originally wanted an anemone only tank but couldn't locate any mini-carpets to go with my various rock anemones.

Anyways after some more research it appears that E. Crucifer only reproduces in the wild via sexual reproduction. Seeing as I have 4 of them chances are good that if they did decide to spawn I would wind up with viable offspring and wouldn't just wind up with only sperm or only eggs floating in my water.

Being in SoCal, you'd think I'd have a bunch of these - I've been looking for months. Anyone wanna help out with a local sale or trade? I am not greedy - only want one with a little bit of color.

Just found this forum, very interesting. I have been searching for a mini carpet for a long time and have had no luck. Is anyone selling them. Would be grateful for any help locating one. : )

you can usually find minis on RC if you watch the classifieds

Thats the high end of what they have been selling for recently. And people have been buying them at that. So if you want it, I would say buy it.

kinda on topic I read that shroom corals are a type of anemone . I want to say natural reef aquariums or reef inverts ! Cant remember right now .

Ok first off these things are amazing I love em. Secondly what kind of lighting and care do they require, I saw earlier in the thread that they would be ok in a 2 gallon pico under 18 watts of CF lighting. Im just curious because my tank is new and I know nems need good water quality, but I do have 132 watts of CF over a 24gal NC, would that be enough, and this type of inhabitant wouldnt be added for a while im just asking is all.

Thank you for the quick reply I can honestly say I am a NOOB but I believe in researching anything before taking the responsibility of caring for it, hence the 4 year research period before setting up my nano. I have to say I will be trying to find some of these for my tank but its gonna be tough cause the choices aer slim here.

Can this same process be done with a purple LTA?

My anemone is starting to ourgrow my tank.

luckily, mini carpets are essentially indestructible. I've pulled them out of the skimmer collection cup many times, and they seemed upset to leave.

it has been done, but it's not nearly as failsafe as mini carpets or BTAs. I wouldn't recommend trying without having success on easier nems first.

Cans I cut my little baby RBTA. Would I really want two really tiny ones in my 12g tank is a better queston though.

I was just on a site and they have a red mini carpet anem for like 120 dollars. to me that just seems way high. what do you guys think, would it be a good investment. plus it looks really nice but I would be really stressed out cutting it.
