Rift-Reef, how much do you like that goby? also what is its specific name? I really like the looks of it.

I like it a lot, but it never paired with the hitchhiker pistol shrimp in my tank. I think it would be much more interesting paired with a pistol shrimp. He usually comes out at night after my moon lights come on. He'll hunt for food such as pods etc...I think he's finally starting to realize that I'm a provider of tasty treats to the tank. He's been coming out of his caves anytime I approach the tank lately. Definitely a cool looking fish just not very active.

It's most commonly known as the Randall's Shrimp Goby, or Randall's Prawn Goby.
Also goes by the name Orange Stripe Prawn Goby. Scientific name is Amblyeleotris randalli

Wow! What kind of camera do you have?

Yea I second that. Those pictures and colors are amazing. My little cannon is nice but dont think it will take pics like that. Maybe the lightin, what you got?
beemo
this is one of those "wheres waldo pics" lol
to the far bottom left is an orange marked goby, to the far bottom right is a wheelers goby with pistol shrimp. you can just barely see the tiger pistols arm poking out of the hole.
second pic is a close up of the wheelers goby. the pistol buries all the corals so its not a coral friendly tank smile.gif

How do you like you Wheeler's? I like their looks. How long have you had yours?

Nice pics everyone. I've had my Trimma for close to a year now and he eats anything. Brine, mysis, cyclopeeze, NLS pellets. He's a great little fish...definitely different from anything I've seen before. It's really neat how they hover vertically. Mine I believe is typiclly found in caves. Maybe that accounts for the strange behavior. I'll try to get a more recent shot of him, but in this pic you can see him hovering over the Ricordia at the bottom left.

ive had him for about 5 or 6 months now. hes a cool fish, hes out most of the time watching over the pistol shrimp. he has a good personality, when he see's me he huff's and puff's as if to threaten me lol
hes a little afraid of my large saddle brown clown though
he eats carnivore mini pellets so thats a plus. he shares the tank with an orange marked goby and they have never shown any aggression towards each other, they pretty much just ignore one another

I'll get some good pics, this is more focused on my mandarin, but the watchman is sneakin in the shot.

Here is my watchman...

He found a new home lately when I messed with the rockwork, It works out, cuz he is by corals now.

Anyone know where might get a Griessingei Goby?
Zzak
Here is my Rainford in my bryopsis lagoon.

For you experts, how do you feed skittish fish? The Rainford buries itself when I come near the tank. I'm not sure how to best get the food to him. He will come out and eat brine shrimp but getting him eating Cyclopeze or the like is gonna be tough.

Do y'all place it on the bottom near a den or what?
nUgZ
Make sure you give him some algae to eat as well. That should be a good part of his diet along with brine, mysis, and cyclopeeze.

My gobies before one half killed the other. I sold them both because they were really irritating my zoo's.

I am really enjoying this thread, some beautiful gobies you all have!

Maybe I'll make my new 20 a "goby paradise." biggrin.gif

Zzak, I have had this fish for a year and he has never touched prepared food. Lives off pods and macro in a 24 gallon tank.

I wish I could get mine to stay out long enough to get a pic like that. He darts when he sees me. I'm glad to see your rainford is 'bumpy' along the body as you get towards the tail as I wasn't sure if this was normal. I'll admit one thing, it's the only fish I've ever had that eats bryopsis.
flricordia
Paired watchman gobies. They live with a large Tiger pistol. I wouldn't tradfe them for anything, but the pistol can get to be a pain, always stealing anything he can move and taking it down to reinforce the tunnels.
Great for keeping the DSB stirred up.

flricordia, why is the right watchman so light and such? Mine did this soon after I introduced him in my tank many many months ago, was kinda dissappointing but never figured out why it lost the coloring.

High fin pair

Protecting their tunnel, I think they are/were breeding at the time, they went nuts for 2 days and were posturing at anything ( including snails etc) that went near their burrow, and both had also lost colouring. Anyone know about thir breeding behaviour?

Just picked up a goby/shrimp pair this weekend - not sure what kind of goby he is (and the pistol is in hiding still)

Nyxis
He's an orange spotted goby same as mine.

Keep the pics coming, I love this thread!

Here's a picture of my Hector's before I lost him when my tank overheated last summer sad.gif

Here are a couple shots of my Yasha. Unfortunately, his pistol shrimp has been too quick for me to catch a pic.

Great looking little fish there Argent. Nice find.

Here are my goby residents ... (click on the pics for larger versions):

Clown Goby sitting in his protective toadstool leather coral. I need to get a picture of when he sits inside my long tentacle plate!

Hi-fin goby on the look-out for food.

Blurry picture of the pistol shrimp out in the open.

I also have a Yellow Watchman Goby, but he is not very photogenic.
Argent
Thanks - he's very active and not shy at all - always out swimming around. This morning I saw him poking out of the burrow next to the orange spotted goby - tried to get a picture but failed. I have a better picture of Bruce with his fins open I'll try and post it later.

I actually want to make a Goby tank.... I have a 58g with a DSB and a lot of rubble rock and some bigger rock in it as well as HOB Refugium.. With enough rock is a 58 gallon big enough to house multiple gobies?? I would think so but never seen anyone who has tried it. Also, is possible to house more than one pistol shrimp in a tank? I would love to have several Goby/Shrimp pairs...

This a freakin' awesome thread though. I love gobies.

To the guy looking for the Discordipinna griessingeri, they have a few listed on marinedepotlive.com I have never ordered from them and they are not exactly cheap but I have been eyeballing these for a while now... They are gorgeous..

Pinner Reef
^I like that one^
and as long as it's easily accessed, I'll add another copy of the pic for this thread.

Bad Bad little invert!

The three of us have actually come to an understanding: They stay away from the half of a clam w/zoa frags and I don't make a quick jump yelling madly at my tank. LOL
