Tonight when I went to feed my tank the emerald crab was out and about. I noticed these tiny white spots crawling over the crabs claws.... they are very very fast. They look as if they might be bothering my crab (to me anyway) as it appears the crab is trying to catch them and eat them (?). I am unable to get a photo as they are to fast and small... I also am unable to tell exactly what they look like due to how fast they run around the claws and shell. They seem to be only a few of them..... Good....Bad.....Nothing to worry about? Help....

I had the exact same things, super fast. I posted asking here about 6 months ago with no response. Those thiongs are so small and fast it is almost hard to believe. I sure would like to know what they are.

Do you still have them on your emerald?

I have been trying to inspect all my fish and hermits for the same bugs... I havent seen them yet... just on my emerald crab.

I wouldn't say sea monsters, but imo they are claw upgrades. probably growing a X-Buster for a claw like mega man. I actually never heard of this I'll be watching smile.gif

I have things crawling on my crab too! except they are redish brown...

I've had my crab for a little over a week, and it's still alive. I'm worried though because its shell is turning yellow. huh.gif

They are copepodes. Very common for them to live on emerald crabs. They use the crab for safety and eat bits of the algae that the crab is eating for their food.
