Seano Hermano
I'm downgrading my 29G reef tank to a 10g tank. I have 5 lbs Carib-Sea sugar grain sand in the tank, seeded with 1 cup of sand from my 29. More will be added next time I make it home. I just have a Taam Rio+ 200 (120gph) from my old tank, but this will be switched out later for one or two of the Hydor Koralia 425 pumps I have at home. I already ahve a Hydor Nano Skim in my 29, which will be moved to this tank once cycled. Lighting will be two Boost par30 LED bulbs, each 60* optics, 3 royal blue / 2 cool white diodes, in "architect's lamps." Livestock will consist mostly of LPS with some soft corals, this being what I have currently. I'll have snails and hermit crabs from the last tank, along with a porcelain crab and yellow clown goby. TheKleinReef
I'm bringing my rimless fluval edge reef to college too! Good luck on the build! Link to comment
Seano Hermano
Thanks! You too! I tested today and after two days of being set up, I have an ammonia reading of 1ppm. lol. I have more rock in my 29 (not home for the summer - the 10g is at a relative's house). Some of it will be transferred to this tank, but not much more). I think this is about 6 lbs. I am going for a 'no-sape' aquasape. Most of it will be made up of coral(s). I (will) have the skimmer for filtration by this time next moth, and plan for light stocking. Link to comment

Squared
good plan do most colleges have a limit on tank sizes? or did you downgrade for ease of care? Link to comment
Seano Hermano
Thanks! Well, both reasons actually. Most colleges allow aquariums of up to 10 gallons. A few allow 20 gallons. I downgrading the tank so I could take it with me, but I thought about doing this even if I didn't. Link to comment
