The beginnings of the Obsidian arrived today.

 

This tank is regretfully replacing The Leviathan.

 

Equipment:

 

Tank: 800 x 600 x 500 (water level at 450)

Sump: 700 x 400 x 400 (water level at 200)

Cabinet: Pending

 

Lighting: EcoTech XR30W Radion x 1

Flow: VorTech MP40 x 1

Extras: EcoTech battery backup x 1

Heating: Weipro temperature controller 1 x Jager 300W

Skimmer: Bubble Magus 180CS-P

Return: EHEIM 1260

Heh, cool song but not the inspiration.

 

Actually not much inspiration for this one. The name is more a concept.

 

When the black silicon arrives and the tank is built more photos will come.

 

Move to the new apartment is the 12th of May but the tank may get wet before that (I work for the company that manages the apartment so I have access to the keys) tehehe.

Trialing a simulated sunrise with the Radion

Scape and Radion. Will get wet in the next few days.

'scape looks a bit flat in those photos. Will post more some other time.

 

Loving the look of the custom laser cut overflow combs though and the frosted vinyl name looks neat on the stand (the letters and junk are the chemical composition of obsidian).

Slower progress than initially planned but meh, things are starting to move ahead now.

 

There's a hood yet to come, it needed another coat of paint. Should be ready next week.
