I started my aquarium adventure with freshwater aquarium almost 8 years ago and I've always wanted to try saltwater. I made a decision about shifting saltwater 5 years ago and I'm cool with it now. After I've experienced with 700 liters and RSM 130 tanks with saltwater, I also experienced some difficulties. Budget and monthly expense were another fact for me and my family. After I saw many nano reef tanks around the world, I wanted to make my own. Because of that my tank is small, salt and additive usage will be lower than my previous tanks. So I'll can save some money for my inverts and corals at this point. There are rare people who interested in true spirit of nano reef, they have so small tanks and amazing creatures, they shows us great effort and art. I appreciate their efforts with all my heart. I want to be get it right and successful with my new nano reef tank.

Anyway, this is my story about the first time doing Nano with 15 gallons, and I try to keep it as serious as possible so I hope you'll enjoy the ride.

And as it goes with names, because I like names, this one is called Simplicity.

Ideas and help, as well as anything else you'd like to say, is greatly appreciated.

If there's anything you like or dislike, don't hesitate to inform me.

Thanks,

Arthur

Yes my friend but I had to remove my canister filter at all from my previous tank. After that I needed to replace my filtration method. I hope this tank will be rocks in near future. Thanks. :)

I like the mitered glass joins in the corners. Looks nice!

Thank you so much. I'm glad you liked it. :)

Yea, my lighting fixture has 6 bulbs what more than I needed but friends of mine wanted to give it to me. And then I wanted to consider it. I hope it'll work fine. Thank you. ;)

Fired Up! :)

We're live and color right now. 300w heater was off the work so I wanted to use it. After my cycle period ended, I'm gonna change it with 100w. I think my rocks are enough my tank size. Sand is fine, its not flying around the tank at all.

Not much room to play with, no?

Right Rock: Probably it'll be my frag rock.

Simplicity but efficent for frags.

Small inverts will love that place.

Also there is a big cage in it.

Looks sweet, I like the minimal rockwork. Whats the stocking plans for coral? This tank needs a colony of really exotic acans B)

Thanks mate. :) I'll add my stocking plans at my first message in this week. I've some problems with local stores in my country. They do not sell frags all time because of that I'll may add my livestock a bit slowly. :(

What country do you live in? and are there not many online companies you can order from in your country?

I live in Turkey. Yes, there are some online companies here which I can order from them easily. But my point is that they doesn't have frag stock at all and thats my problem. :( They selling the large colony of SPS, LPS and Soft Coral. They doesn't have enough livestock as frag for customers. Local stores doesn't deal with fragging here because of they're cheap and fragging consumes their time more.

I can find various pieces of zoanthids and other LPS species as a frag but Acans and SPS frags looks like impossible for me right now. :(

The grains of sand appearance for reference.

Cool, Istanbul is on my list of places to vacation. Thats a shame that they dont deal with frags. Not only price but there easier to work with in small tanks. But maybe you can make friends with one of the local owners and get him to frag some stuff for you.

Great! I live in Istanbul. If you come to vacation here, I can show you around and make a quick tour for you. You can contact me before check-in time lol. :) Yes, its a shame that they dont deal with frags. Last night I met someone who making zoanthid frags in my country. I can buy some species from him. Looks like local owners my important hope which I never forget.

Thanks for reading,

Arthur

Really nice start!

I'm really diggin a clean and simple sumpless nano, I might just convert my 13g (60x30x30) aquarium this way!

How is that stand holding up? its from ikea right? I have the same one, just tilted 90 degrees and my tv is on it, never though it could hold so much weight!

I'm glad you like it man. ;) Looks like sumpless nano is my final destination. Yes, I bought my stand from Ikea with my wife. We picked white one and thought about some discrepancy with casework fitted with mirror. Our hallstand and doors are in white color, we thought it'll be fine. Now we bring the stand into consonance with our home lol.

Anyway, believe me or not, I was scared when I start to fill my tank with water. I thought it'll blow out because I must be sure about that! At least, I filled up fully, I was calm down. Maybe I may screw a few spots on it later.

Thanks,

Arthur

As you can see in the pictures, I deactivated my protein skimmer to try my lighting. I thought lighting fixture would be nice on hang mode. I hurried about pictures, sorry about that. :(
