sammy113
Hi everybody. A few weeks back I got an Ecoxotic EcoPico tank for a competition in my local club's forum. The distributor in our area was kind enough to provide an EXCELLENT price for us to buy the same tank and build whatever we want. Some people are doing fresh water, others reef. I was going to do a freshwater setup first but considering I need to buy a couple of things to set it up and I already had everything to make it a reef I decided to go saltwater. The tank is 5g glass rimless Comes with an LED light (basic model has a 3 LED strip while the reef version has 3 strips for a total of 6 LEDs) Small power head/filter and glass lid I stripped the lamp and switched to 6 CREE LEDs (2 neutral white, 4 royal blues) Powered by 24v power supply and a 1000ma buckpuck. I currently have: Sand Live Rocks Plan to keep the included filter Some frags from my current tank But the main problem is temperature. Will need to run some tests to see how hot gets cause average temp here is around 80~83 sometimes goes hotter. Plan is to keep zoas, rics some lps and hardy corals that can handle some temp Need to paint or vinyl cover the back in black. Here a picture from ecoxotic for reference: Now some pics of the lamp modified: Pictures taken with 80 degree lenses installed. Probably wont need them cause is overkill but i just like the look of them. Will try to remove the lens itself and keep the holder just for the looks. More to come one I have the background black and test for temperature Link to comment
