BocaIvan's Build Thread

10 years ago I was running a custom 29gal reef. Built an over flow inside and drilled the back which went to a 10 gal wet/dry sump I built. after about 2 years the tank suddenly started leaking and I couldn't get my hands on another tank and make the necessary modifications quick enough to save everything. All corals were sold back to LFS and that was the end of the hobby.

A year ago my wife and I sold our condo and bought a house and knew it was only a matter of time...Fast foward to last month, and the itch was back. I didn't want to deal with sumps and plumbing this time around and always admired the AIO setups. I know it can be a little more work to keep these stable but I find it theraputic for my OCD! Did a little research, talk to some people, and it was off to the LFS!

I'll see how the water change thing goes for now...

I spent this months budget on the Salifert tests and RKL stuff, oh yea and new AC for the house...

Once I start testing the Calcium, Alk, and Mag, I'm going to start adding corals...

picked up a maxima clam and a pygmy angel.

Alk was a little low, gotta dose a little more, Cal was 450, not terrible but want to get that a little higher as well.

I see know why you don't like the Reef Results Calcium Carbonator, they told me, "just add more" to get the Alk up...

I'm going to switch to B-Ionic when I'm done with this product.

So I fed the clam some phyto feast last night and it closed a bit... not really sure why.

Also did a 6 gal water change.

I need to scrape the glass with a razor blade this weekend, and I'll be cleaning the pumps as well.

That's what I was hoping it was doing.

BTW I think my goby is about to die, he looks uber skinny and isn't eating/sifting and barely swims around.

Levels are fine, tank is very stable.

He will barley eat the pebbles. He won't go after them while they are falling to the sand and once on the sand he will have a few but the hermit crabs and peppermint shrimp go to town one it hits.

I put in some frozen mysis yesterday and he didn't touch it.

I have a CUC but sand doesn't look as clean. They are primarily on the rocks...

Got my first frag last night, 2 branch Hammer-Frogspawn Hybrid
