But it's time to post the first picture of my new tank that I had Miracles build for me. The tank arrived on Tuesday. Custom stand is underway, albeit slowly. Most everything from the old tank will be transferred. None of the live rock will. I plan on doing pukani from BRS with a seeded and slow to establish cycle. Anyone have any suggestions on de-pesting the LR seed piece? Link to comment
Genj
Still waiting on the stand to be built. Patience truly is a virtue. Link to comment
Paleoreef103
Anyone have any suggestions on de-pesting the LR seed piece? Use a small piece and use a coral dip like coralrx. Be sure to pick off pest algaes, but save the pods and other nice inverts you want. If you really want to be crazy, you could set up a small tank with a heater, pump, and cheap light and do repeated dips on the piece while observing the piece for growing pest algaes. You can never be 100% safe though. Link to comment
razgris
if you want to be real safe get some pods from reefcleaners.com and use them to seed the tank rather another rock , or some macro algae. Link to comment
Genj
I like both ideas. I was also considering grinding up the entire piece of LR and turning it into live sand! Link to comment
JNA_DESIGN
That sounds interesting... and messy. Link to comment

Genj
Any updates? I've never seen a 115 long before Well, I've have major delays on the cabinet, but things are finally starting to move. I've been going nearly insane looking at my tank sitting in my garage for months now. I wish someone made a MH/LED combo hanging light fixture. Perhaps I need to investigate retrofitting a MH/VHO light with LED strips? Link to comment
iDream
Any specific reason for MH+LED? There are plenty of great MH+T5HO fixtures out there, or just LED ones Link to comment
ajmckay
Nice tank! The braces look really well crafted. As for lighting, why not just go all MH? If you do want LED + MH though, check out the supplemental kits from http://www.rapidled.com where you can buy kits with looooooong skinny heatsinks. Then just use some brackets or something to either attach them to your MH pendants, or if you're making a canopy just mount them inside. http://www.rapidled.com/servlet/the-154/24...pplement/Detail Link to comment
Genj
I'm interested in LED really because of my experience with them over my Solana. I've had really great results so far, and being able to dial in and dim the color is great. Then again, AI SOLs at $400 each? That's really tempting to buy 3 of them and call it a day. IMO I would go with the SOL's, they cand adjusted in SO MANY ways and now you can get the wireless conector and control them wirelessly as well + thunderstorm mode... Or you can go all out and and for $500 each (instead of $400 each) you can get the new Phoenix from Aqua Illumination! Link to comment

I'm going to demo both of them for a while and then sell them at a small loss. Whoever reads this thread will get the benefit of knowing this and will be able to pick up a light at a slightly less than street price. Link to comment
iDream
Oh wow, that sounds like a great idea. I think you'll go with the Radions though Link to comment
Genj
Oh wow, that sounds like a great idea. I think you'll go with the Radions though Unfortunately the Radions are missing a very important piece, and that's a good mounting system. The people at AI have a turnkey solution, while the people at Ecotech told me to go to home depot. For that much money, I was hoping for a bit more of a complete thought, especially since they are as much as they are per each. Link to comment

When you get the Phoenix lights post some pics on the Aqua Illuminations Club forum and Ill add ya to the list. Caint wait to see these! Did anyone tell you when the release date for these will be when you called to order them? Link to comment
Genj
nope, no release date at the time. Is there anything other than the light and the hanging kit that I would need? Is the controller a separate unit? Link to comment

Is the controller a separate unit? Yes, the controller is seperate, and YES I would def get it! You can do so much through the AI controller. And the Phoenix now has Cloud cover mode. You can adjust and have the Thunderstorm mode enabled, cloud cover, change the brightness and everything from the controller. Also with the Phoenix you can control everything WIRELESSLY!!!! Genj
Ecotech lights are in my hands, and so far I really like them. I am afraid that I'll have to swap out the lenses however to minimize disco ball impact. Link to comment
