Heh thank you!

It's got things in it now and all is doing very well but shhhh I've been very slack setting up my tank thread...!

Around 6 weeks slack...

But it's nearly 2am!

Ok, ok...

With LR about 5 weeks ago then + water, first lot of RO water came from local LFS guy, he was nice enough to loan me containers and have me visit his house on his day off! Yesterday installed my own RO unit.

Next pic at the end of 4 week-ish cycle. Went through a heavy bloom, a touch of cyano and then settled into stable algae growth. So far nothing I can't deal with.

Cheers, managed to get my hands on some nice pieces of rock, they all fit really well together. I felt for me gluing or drilling etc would have adverse affects in future as I'm likely to want to move things as I start adding corals.

The rock in front of the cave to the left is now on top of the cave a bit as it was blocking too much flow but that's all I've changed... so far...

I'm from Newcastle in the North East. I've only ever been to London once, far too busy and too many ppl for me.

You're right you'll probably always be moving bits and pieces of rock to try and find perfection. I'm not into gluing or drilling either!

Where in NZ are you? I lived in Christchurch for awhile. Loved it over there.

I live in Wellington... Christchurch is a bit flat for my taste heh! NZ is such a village compared to anywhere else I've travelled.

yeah, not always a bad thing though. Looks like you off to a good start. I just got a b&w clown myself. Always wanted one.

Man how lucky are you to have a partner that's into reefing!!!! I don't even think my wife has looked at my tank...lol! like I said to NZReefie I love the RSM I'll be keeping an eye on developments. Is it still stock at this stage or you planning to upgrade skimmer or anything?

lol yup I am lucky, I see so many people on these forums cursing there partners lack of interest in this hobby.

Its a shame as its a great thing to share

We're currently running the stock skimmer which is doing its job well....its just so f#*@n noisy!!!

Skimmers are really expensive in nz, but we will upgrade in 6 months.

No bio noodles, just chemipure elite in the chamber of death.

We are waiting for funds to get our Hydor koralia plugged into a transformer as it is 115v and nz is 240v

Thank you for your enthusiasm and interest Bouch, our tank is a bit manky atm, but it will get there!

man, i hate noisy kit! seems every country it's mega expensive apart from th US market! I've got a Koralia Nano 900 it's a nice little powerhead.

Catch you later mate.

We really couldn't keep the tank if it was just one of us interested... we've spent nearly 3k NZD to get it this far... that's around 3 weeks combined wages for Ciedre (Jo) and I (Lou) hehehe!

I wouldn't have been quite so much but as none of our LFS sell/provide RO water we've bought our own unit :D

That's a lotta NZD, but definately worth it!! much better to have your own RO unit anyway in the long run it'll be much more convenient. I just went out to treat myself to my first coral (toadstool leather or finger leather) but lfs shut as it's a bank holiday... never mind will have to wait til Saturday now. Lou & Jo I'm Barry by the way.

Yeah we are broke at the moment lol.

Awesome I love leathers our two are doing well and fluoresce under the moonlights :).

Stupid bank holidays, they're one thing I'm not going to miss being back in NZ.

Nice to meet you Barry, its very refreshing to meet someone less..... snobbish on these forums lol!

Quick update...

Jaffa the clown fish is now looking much better. I decided he was just grumpy and lonely in the QT so I did what everyone tells you not to and threw him back in the main tank. He perked up immediately, ate a hearty dinner, explored his changed surroundings and hung out with Oscar (Blenny).

We stopped at one of our LFS on the way home last night and bought a Tunze 9002. So StevieT, we'll be placing an order with you soon! The LFS has also just got in a tiny, beautiful fat mandarin fish... I see it... in my tank, eating my pods...

Picked up some great live rock from a friends tank on the weekend, it came with some rather large fireworms, we're debating whether or not to keep them in the long term but for now they can stay, they're doing a great job cleaning up all the detritus nothing else will touch! There are also heaps of tiny bright red feather dusters and LOADS of pods.

Also broke us off some frags (again for free, what luck!) a double head of greenish hammer coral (it was being shaded by the main heads so looks a little sad at the moment but we hold out hope!) A great piece of purple/pinky leather that seems to LOVE our tank and some more zoas that had been growing up the front glass of his tank.

Will post a new FTS tonight as tank looks a little different now.
