I want to get a light for my tank. It's going to be bare bottom i think. I want a 96w t5ho
I read that halide is bad evap. I am looking more toward t5 it looks alot better color wise and everything.
I want to spend about 150 give or take a little. I was looking at this one is this one truly slr is it good to keep anything in a 10 g.

Spend a few bucks more and get a 24wx4 Nova Extreme. It's a far better fixture than the Odyssea. A 150W halide isn't a bad choice. You are going to have evap no matter what, and with an sps tank (with any tank for that matter) keeping your tank topped off is a must. Budget an ATO in there no matter what light you get.

You can get good color with MH, but 70W bulbs (and in general a single bulb MH fixture) don't offer as many choices. An odyssea T5 is not the best in quality reflectors. However, the 10 gallon tank depth may be sufficient for most SPS.

I too would warn against the Odyssea. On the RC thread about their MH fixtures, several people asked if it was UL listed and in a dozen pages not one person showed a picture or mentioned a UL badge on it. They may in fact be listed, but I consider that to be something important on high powered electronics. As nice as the fixture itself is, everyone usually recommends replacing the ballasts AND bulbs, Once you've done that though, you could have just bought a good, name brand light.

If you're concerned about the budget, just watch N-R and RC's classified and get a used fixture for cheap. You can easily get a used MH fixture with several months left on the bulb for $100-150

Nova would be good. You really want to invest in an ATO though. Manual top offs gets old fast, and it's never as accurate.
