So I just got the RSM 34gallon tank and added the salt water and LR. LR has been in the tank for 24 hours. Saltwater has been in tank for a week (waited to get salinity right and all the salt absorbed). I've noticed that the tank really smells like seaweed (or some kinda of bad ocean smell..)

Any ideas to help cover the smell?? Or is this normal at the beginning of a new tanks life?

What are the ammonia stats on the tank? A cycling tank has the potential to really reek.

Activated carbon can help with the smell a bit.

Or chemipure, but I would only use that if you're planning on running it after the cycle as well.

+1 to the black carbon, it'll help but just about any new tank will have a smell until it gets more established.

Once your cycle is complete and you do a water change, the odor should subside.
