Ok i found a 48" PFO Solaris LED light for $750.It has all "new generation" parts i guess from what im told. They say it compares to 2 250w halides. My friend is thinking of buying to hang over his 81 gallon that is 22 inches tall or so.Would this be able to keep sps and clams?Any more thoughts on this?Im trying to get him away from mh lol.I tried getting him to go t5s but he isnt so sure about them.He wants to cut cost by getting rid of his 2 250mh over his tank now.
any info/reviews would be great. -------------------- ![]() My 30 breeder build, the biocube replacement http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?...=185507&hl= my 14 gal biocube Now taken down but still here to help anyone with ?s http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?...&hl=plainrt |

I highly recommend avoiding it like the plague. While it may be working right now, it will fail and there is no support. I'm willing to bet it's an I4, not an I5. I4's and earlier had a lot of reliability problems. I5's are too new to know if they will hold up long term.

For that price, why not DIY his own?

For that price, why not DIY his own? The controller, is the most attractive part of that set up, i remember this came out before anyone even thought of doing LEDs...well anyone who isn't evil. It's been a while since I've looked at these things...pretty underwhelming especially after flipping through the comprehensive LED project list. -------------------- lovely party geoffery, but there's a turd in the punch bowl

Avoid it at all costs. The I series was bad enough, but G and H series were even worse. G was first, then H, with I last.

Thanks again evil i will not let him buy it.Now to find him a decent fixture under 750 or so.He is looking to cut cost of the 2 250w halides and 2 t5s he has now.Im thinking a 6 bulb 48inch t5 setup would be best for him.
