Due to time and monetary strain, I had to take down my tank after 3 1/2 years...
I had set it up the first week of moving into my own house. Now that I'm on the verge of losing my house, I had to take down my tank... How's that for symbolic? -------------------- |

Thanks everyone...
My wife says she was pretty upset about the tank too. When I commented that she never looked at it, she replied that"...I just liked knowing it was there..." Tasha, that sounds tempting....Can my wife come too? You could be Magenta, she Columbia, and I could be an Asian Frank! I just can't seem to be able to find a job and I've gotten to the point where all my savings are down the tubes as well....One of my brothers from the Masons gave me a tip about someone who has had an excellent record for job placement, so I'll be looking her up this week. And if I can last that long, I'll be doing taxes in the Spring.... -------------------- |

that sucks...economy sucks...
in the mean time there is one of those day labor centers in almost every town. a lot of my brother's friends who were in construction lost their jobs when the housing bubble burst and were able to make ends meet just working there everyday. the labor might not be what you are used to and the pay usually isn't great but if you tough it out like they did you can make some payments on the home, and afford at least some of the necessities of life until you find a better job. good luck to you! -------------------- |

Hey John,
If you ever saw me you'd know why day labor would be a ridiculous idea... On the plus side, I did find a job through a placement agency....Not the same as the brother Mason told me about though. It doesn't pay much, about half of what I would need to stay afloat, but at least its some sort of income. At the same time I'm still trying to gear up for tax preparations in the Spring, though I feel as if I've missed the boat on training classes... -------------------- |

I feel ya man. I had a serious OTJ accident about four years ago and my partner now has to bear the brunt of our finances. She couldn't find ANY kind of work despite a solid work history and 8 years of Army service. We ended up homeless for a while. That sucked nard : / She has been contracting in Iraq for the last 2 years, got laid off a month ago...STILL can't find a job....so she is going to have to go back to Iraq on another contract soon.
Nothing you can do but truck on and remember that things can get better as fast as they went to poop. Much luck my friend. This post has been edited by Orphicdragon: Nov 3 2009, 08:38 AM -------------------- Please help out a fellow reefer with a graduate school project by clicking the link below

It's hard times for sure. I remember when my dad would get laid off growing up (happened 8 times that I can remember) he would mow lawns, wash cars, clean houses...whatever it took to get cash in the door. More recently he had to go work at a coffee shop making minimum wage after he and my mom left their jobs to run their own business. I had to do phone sales and wash dishes at a restaurant when I was out of work a couple times. It sucks hard, but you gotta buckle down and take the crappy stuff and work your ass off until things get better.
My prayers are with you - I hope this time passes quickly. -------------------- |

Wow I can't believe someone hard up for cash would mow lawns. Turns out you can make a nice living doing it. -------------------- ZOA FRAGS FOR SALE PM IF INTERESTED.
