i have had my bc29 for over 2 years now, and when i was visting a LFS about a year ago i bought a brittle star that was on the verge of death....i decided to buy him half price and save him.it was a black one and looked like this...

in this last year i have lost a 6 line wrasse and 2 clowns for no reason. eating, hosting, doing clownish things.

they keep disappearing, and one time i caught a clown in his arms, but im not sure if he was the killer or just the garbage man.

also i added a bi color angel about 5 months ago and thought maybe he might bew the bully? but my latest death (my 2 year old clown) was much larger and more territorial in the tank. im not gonna buy any more fish cuz i am tired of throwing my money into a pit. could this starfish (who is almost the circumfrence fo a grapefruit extended now) be killing my fish? should i remove it cuz its so large?

It definitely could, I don't think they are reef safe. I think I remember Kraylen had one in his tank that owned the slow fish.

I would kill and eat a human no problem. I could have a fridge full of beef and I would still eat human.

The non-reef safe ones enjoy perching up high and waiting for a fish to swim under. Then it drops down and then... SNACK ATTACK!

A lot of people consider brittle stars to be effectively the same as serpent stars.....BIG mistake....Brittle stars are highly predatory when they start getting big.....
