I planned on going with this pendant if I don't DIY a LED set up. Let me know how long shipping takes.

Sure thing :) I'll update this thread when it comes in with pictures of the unit, packaging, etc.

which bulb did you order? Do you plan on using the stock bulb or upgrading?

14k, and I plan on using the stock one for a while. I mean, how bad can it be haha.

thats what I thought until I switched to Geismann bulbs on my t5 fixture. World of difference. But I never have run MH before so i don't know.

Lighting came in!

I ordered on Sunday, shipped out monday (first business day), got here today wednesday. Shipping was fast, and packaging was good.

So far so good. Won't be powering this guy on for a little while. Construction is pretty good for the price.

nice looking light! i may be going t5 myself i think MH is overkill on such a small tank. what are your stocking plans?

Sweet looking light.

Did that price include the bulb?

Yes the price includes the bulb. You have a choice between a 14k and a 20k. I chose the 14k (hope I made the right decision B) )

Heres a picture of the 14k. Decided I better power it up and test the ballast (in case anything is defective, so I could ship it back.)

spectrum will probably change when the bulb goes through the burn in period.

Edit: Also one of the first pics I've taken with the new T1i :P

Double Edit:

Sorry, don't know how I missed that. Plans are mostly softies, I'm thinking a lot of zoanthids. Might also try some monti caps as well. Not too sure yet. I'm kind of winging it as I go.

  • 3 weeks later...

Had some time to go to the LFS's around here. Picked up an MJ1200, a bulkhead, elbow, some locline and tubing. Spent another 46$ today -_- Also had a chance to check out the live rock and most of the ones around here SUCK. I need to start looking for a source for live rock.

Excuse the water spots.

Next, I have to figure out how to hang the pendant. Hmmm....

looking good! Have you tested the 1200 in there yet? I tried to test an old old 1200 and it seemed to be the same as my 900. I'm not sure if I should just buy a 1200 too

Haven't had a chance to test it with water yet. I leak tested the tank yesterday but I didn't have the pump haha.

Heres a few more pictures. Quick and dirty hanging of the fishneedit 70w hqi pendant. Still a little crooked from the side. Once again excuse the water spots!

Now I have to figure out if the cheapo Ikea table can hold weight of the tank or not. If not, then I have to figure out a stand for the tank, or do what my friend did and reinforce it by putting cinderblocks under the table :P Ghetto!

for a moment there i thought the pendant was black!!! looks real nice man and on the stand, my son has his lil 3G on it and holds up just fine ;)

Thanks. The tank is great! I can't wait to fill her up.

Nice setup. How do those mounting legs work? Do they screw onto the back of the tank? Cant really tell from the pics. TIA

The light actually comes with plastic legs that allow it to sit on top of a tank AND a hanging kit. I decided to hang the light instead so that I would be able to adjust the height as needed.

But yes, if you use the plastic legs that come with it, its held in place by these little plastic screws.

Man that looks clean.

Thanks! Your back wall looks awesome. Can't wait to see it covered in coralline, corals, etc. It's going to be sickk! B)
