The shipment has been delayed a week so check back next week for pics. agileTan - Thanks, but it won't be like that next week, it's just the rock form my old tank. I'm trying to figure out a new way to arrange it all... Link to comment

I'm following for sure.. =) ah thanks man, i know, i'm still research the benefits of tank jizz... I'll get a night shot tommorow night, tonight i will be too silly in the head to remember. Blue anthelia is from a local guy here in toronto, pretty cool stuff. The tank and lights came together from this small new york company no moonlights, i don't find it neccesary, but maybe eventually i just blew a huge wad and my new reaction chamber and skimmer and next week i'm getting more coral and fish... In terms of rock work i have no idea, i'll probably improvise when i get it next week. Thanks for the follow, i'll for sure subscribe to yours as well. what're your stocking plans? Link to comment
illuminano
Update: Well, i had some problems with a few frags losing polyps etc... and my blueberry zoas seemed to be suffering from red slime algae over take. Their stocks were getting wrecked so when i went to hand clean the stocks some of the polyps just fell off. Some of them are very healthy but three fell right off so i collected them, a piece of montipora, a small frag of dragon eye zoas and my ricordea which, after a week and a half, still has failed to latch onto anything, and epoxied them all onto a rock. We'll see tommorow how things look. As requested a night shots. Pipefish and more coral/liverock have been postponed till next week. DARN. Things are growing very nicely under these 10k's though... SA skimmer and chamber coming next week! WOO Thinking about getting a UV sterilizer to ward off algae issues i forsee... FTS [July 17th 2009] -Dave Link to comment
LivingStrong08
Looking nice man, very cool, and I so want one now!! Bummer, It seems like you were excited for the Pipefish! Good luck saving the zoa's etc... Keeping my fingers crossed for ya! TGIF! Link to comment
Weetabix7
Interesting. Watch out for that Anthelia taking over your tank. It has an insane growth rate, like no other coral I've seen. Pretty though. I used to keep mine isolated on the sandbed so it wouldn't take over adjoinging rockwork. Have you researched the needs of pipefish? They're really cool, but not the easiest fish to keep. They're really cool, but not the easiest fish to keep. I had no idea anthelia was so hardy, but you're right it's already outgrown the rock it came on. The rock it's adjoining onto though is acro skeleton fused into live rock so it's not exactly the easiest rock to spread on-at least thats what i'm thinking. I have a dremel with many blades just in case though. I have researched a little, but not enough yet, it's coming next week so i have plenty of time. I also have an amazing LFS where i'm ordering it from (for no extra charge i might add). He said he'll give me pods and everything else i need to get it started and i have pristine water conditions so heres to hope! Thanks weety, nice of you to post, i know there's not a lot to see yet, but next week, next week... Link to comment
Paleoreef103
My experiences is that Pseudochromis don't get along with much. I do have a springeri pseudo that does OK with a larger sixline and a hawkfish, but I've also had a pseudochromis that bullied a damsel into hiding almost all the time. My other pseudo I've had was a nasty bugger who killed anything I put in the tank with him. Guy even started picking on Turbo snails. With pipefish I'd try to keep them with other slow moving fish. Even that clown might prove troublesome. Any pseudo would annihilate a pipefish. If not by ripping him apart by eating all the microfauna in the tank and letting him starve. I love pseudochromis, but they've got a mean streak a mile wide. Check this out for more info on them http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-02/hcs3/index.php Link to comment

Rehype
Nice tank but you do realize that pipefish need a steady source of copepods or they will starve. Link to comment

Check this out for more info on them http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-02/hcs3/index.php Well i decided against the pipefish (The LFS doesn't mind if i decide against buying it, they'll sell 'em either way. I did however get the pseudo and hes doing fantastic although were having a bit of trouble getting him to eat... We'll see how this pans out in the near future but for now my clown is chowing down haha Nice stuff, are you worried about the tank sitting on a heater though? I move to college in September where it won't be on a radiator, thought that one through haha. Nice tank but you do realize that pipefish need a steady source of copepods or they will starve. Yeah that was something i didn't entirely think through, but i realized the more responsible thing to do would be to stick to what i know. Nice looking tank! Thanks man! looking forward to seeing yours (eventually) come together! Link to comment
illuminano
After much consideration i decided against the pipefish. But today i am going to get some new corals and a new fish or two (looking for a pair possibly...) For the tank. I made a frag rack that stick onto the side walls really nicely, yesterday. It works very well, and only took a few minutes. Heres some new pictures to tide you over: The rack is made out of leftover suction cups from various things and eggcrate found on my way home from work yesterday. Glued with epoxy. Bowed glass makes it look crooked which is so annoying from the front, my only quam... Link to comment

illuminano
Im glad you decided against the pipefish.Love the pic of the pseudo Me too, i just don't have the tank establishment nor the time to care for such a delicate species. tank looks nice man Thank you! It's coming along, but it still has a ways to go... In other news, i took a trip down to my not so local fish store because they were tearing down their marine tanks in favour of a new system which will be up and running in a few weeks. Very exciting. I can't take pictures yet because my tank is all yellow from the cyano treatment i've been using. Tommorow! -Dave Link to comment

jpluttme
Nice to see another CAD 22 owner. Are you sure you have t5-HO lights? I thought the 56w fixture was SO and the 96 HO unless they've made a change. May want to check that. Good so far. Look forward to seeing updates. Link to comment
