I finally got around to taking some pictures of my tank, and starting a thread. I have been putting it off for the simple fact that my camera sucks, not to mention the fact that when it comes to taking pictures of my tank I have no idea what I’m doing. I have researched it on the net and on nano-reef and still can’t get any really good pictures. But this is what I got.

Equipment:

Solana 34 gallon

Solana Stand Espresso

SunPod HQI, 20” 1x150

DIY Screen Top (don’t use it, hat it)

ATO - My own rig, but just ordered a double float switch from autotopoff.com

Mini-Jet 606 with ½ inch tubing in Reservoir Container

Tunze 6025 Powerhead

Stealth 100 Watt Heater

Oceanic Natural Salt Mix

Rio Powerhead 1400 Return Pump

Stock Skimmer

40 Pounds of Live Rock (Fiji)

20 Pounds of Live Sand (Caribsea)

Chambers:

1st – Skimmer and Heater

2nd - Filter pad, Chemi-pure Elite, Big ball of Chaeto, Live rock pieces.

3rd - Return Pump and ATO

Removed Bioballs

9 Watt light attached to back of my stand for Chaeto growth

Parameters:

PH: 8.3

Temp: 79-80 degrees Fahrenheit

Ca: 430ppm

Alkalinity: 11dkh

Specific Gravity: 1.025

Fish:

False Per Clown

Sixline Wrasse

Lawnmower Blenny

Cherub Pygmy Angel

Banggai Cardinal

Bubble Tip Anemone (I know it’s not a Fish)

CUC:

Blueleg Herit Crab - 4

Cleaner Shrimp – 2

Nassarius Snale – 4

Astrea Snail – 2

Fighting Conch – 1

Emerald Crab – 1

Corals:

Cynarina

Hammer Coral

Torch Coral

GSP

Xenia

Kenya Tree

Candy Cane Coral

A couple different Mushrooms

A couple different Zoos

My tank has been set-up for approx. 4 months now.

Here are some pics that I took a couple of months ago that I figured I would post. One is of a mushroom that for the life of me I could not get to attach to a rock. I read on the net about using a container to assist in helping the schroom attach to something, and yet the wrap had wholes in it, a ton. The other pics are of a bristle worm that I saw in my tank the other day.

That's a pretty cool mushroom! Mine took a while to attach, but they move where ever they want to go anyways!

nice setup bruce! jealousy @ your sunpod hqi! you thinking about picking up any sps anytime soon or sticking w/ lps + softies?

Actually I am thinking about picking up some SPS. It just happens that all my LFS's, which I have about 8 of, don't have any that I have wanted to pick up. Thanks for the compilment. Its my first saltwater set-up. I have had many tanks in the past, including a 55g African Cichlid tank. So far its pretty fun and rather addicting. Once I get some more additions to my tank I will post some more picks!

Great to see another solana tank. Pics look good. Tank is looking great. This is my very first tank ever (salt or fresh) and I must say, if someone told me corals were like crack mixed with designer clothes and I would be broke ever week because of my addiction....I wouldn't change a thing. lol. Keep up the great tank. Keep us updated when those SPS start rolling in.

Thank you southstar066 for the kind words. I'm still in the process of adding corals, and I agree its like a drug, its additive. I will for sure add more pics once I add some SPS.

hai Bruce,

nice aquarium room, :)

Is anyone looking at the tv now the tank is so close?

I like the size of your tank, when I upgrade maby, I want a tall one 2.

Actually it is funny you mention that. I had some people over the other day and alot of them I caught looking at the tank instead of the TV. Entertainment is Entertainment I guess!

When I made it I made the length about 18 inches I believe, my tank is 20. That way I can slide in under the brackets that hold my light. Is that what you are asking? I only used it the first couple weeks after I made it. I might make a new one with a slot at the top where I can throw food through.

  • 2 weeks later...

Yeah, take your time setting it up. When I set mine up I had my return pump set on the lowest setting, I then had to reach down in the back chamber and pull out the pump and change the setting.

Good luck with your tank!
