I found out that my RSM's moonlights does not work . I've been checking around the web and found this Ecosystem LED Accent Lighting-Moonlight Blue at Marine DepotEcosystem LED lighting It's fully submersible and would be a good replacement for my busted stock moonlights. It has 4 LED lights. It's selling for less than $30. What do you guys think? I also found this R2 Solutions Moonlight 11000 MC and it can go underneath my RSM hood perfectly. The price is not too bad(29.99). It uses a double sided tape and the reviews were all great. Link to comment

When I was having trouble with one of the stock lights in my RSM hood, Red Sea sent me a document with instructions on how to check the wiring. Technically, it's a fan-replacement guide, but it has pics and might help you troubleshoot the led problem, or at least shows you how to safely get inside the hood. Let me know if you would like me to send (can't post it here) and an email. mrn Link to comment

mavjoy
you got pm'ed. thanks. Hello all, I just want to update my tanks progress wih some PICS! The water is much clearer now but the water parms like ph-8.2, amm-0, nitrite-0, nitrate-0, calcium-460 and SG is 1.025-1.026. I also added some chaeto in the back chamber with an egg crate right next to the heater. Anyways, here are some pics: FTS right side left side top part(surface tension is good) another FTS I'm just waiting for my media rack from StevieT and looking for a fuge light to put in my back chamber. I will be testing my water parms every 3 days or so. Link to comment

While you wait, here's a couple things to think about. Looks like some great rock! There are two things I noticed about your rock scape that I will comment on. (Free advice, but worth ten times what you paid! ) - Lots of us keep the rock work away from the back wall for better circulation and easier cleaning. - Our tank has lots of vertical surface and that is somewhat difficult to populate with corals. There are spots like that in your rock too. Perhaps since they are further back, that won't matter. good luck, hank Link to comment
Pickle010
I dig your set up but for my liking - it's a little too verticle. That piece you have on the left side looks like it would be awesome set in there horizontally somehow and that big flat piece on the bottome would make for an awesome shelf. Just my opinion - but I've found when the pieces are straight up and down it cuts on the options to place corals. Either way it will look awesome when it gets filled in. Link to comment

Thanks guys for all your comments . It looks like there is no space in the back but there is. I just have to use the turkey baster when I do my weekly maintenance. The piece on the right side is perfect straight up 'cause it has a lot of empty slots that I can plug frags of anything. I'm also planning of gluing my corals once I transfer them in this tank. I also wanted more space by the front so the corals got lots or room to spread . Link to comment
mavjoy
Hi guys, I just did a water test of the tank and it still has .25 ammonia . There are some algae growing on the surface of the LR and some in the sandbed too. I guess I have to wait a little bit longer. Can I add some CUC now? My media rack is suppose to come tomorrow and I'll wait 'til it gets here before I add my CUC. How many CUC should I add to my RSM tank? 15(10 snails and 5 hermit crabs)? Link to comment
HankB
Hi guys, I just did a water test of the tank and it still has .25 ammonia ... Can I add some CUC now? Yes. But you risk their death. At the very least, they will be highly stressed by the ammonia and nitrates in the water. It would be wise to wait until ammonia and nitrites are no longer detectable, pH comes up above 8.0 and nitrates are at or below 20. Then wait another week. Then do a 50% water change. Then wait another few days. Then start adding CUC. Only bad things happen fast in this hobby. Take the required time and you will be rewarded by a thriving and vibrant tank. Rush things and you will leave a path of death and destruction. Which sounds like more fun? best, hank Link to comment

I see some small snails on my fuge and DT area. I guess it came with the chaeto I purchased from my LFS. I'll post some pics later once I set up the media rack. Thanks for the feedback Hank. HankB
...Thanks for the feedback Hank. You're welcome. I was unnecessarily harsh. Must have been in a bad mood. (crotchety old bastage!) Looks like diatoms - that's a sign of progress! Did you want something to block the light from your fuge? I found some black plastic file folders. I can either point you to their web site or sell you one or two for postage and cost. Or maybe you'll do better at finding something local. PM me if you're interested and I'll figure out the details. -hank Link to comment

mavjoy
RED!!!! sweet so is the rack there yet???!!!! shows delivered via tracking @ 2.30p I got the rack and installed it already . Nice packaging StevieT and the rack looks awesome. I finally got some filter pads running on my tank LOL. I had a hard time putting it in the first time 'cause I didn't take out the surface skimmer grill first..hehe.. after that, the rack went in pretty smooth. It was a perfect fit . I followed your directions on where to put my media stuff and no flow problems so far. By the way StevieT, really appreciate for the filter pads that came with it, thanks a lot. Here's a quick pic of the fuge: Hank-thanks for recommending the file folders, but I kinda like that I can see the fuge at night . Link to comment
StevieT
what do you mean about taking out the surface skimmer grill? It should just pop right in if you put it in the right way. Link to comment
