Thanks TJ. I had a hang on rack that sorta looked like that, but the magnets are a way better way to go.

No problem :)

**Updates**

New additions:

Tonga Zoa Frag (Very nice, when they open I will take a pic)

Green Branching Proites Frag

Reverse Pokerstar Monti Frag (about 1"x1")

Rainbow Montipora Colony (4"x2")

A few new Mini (all about 3/4" in size) carpet anemones!

Also,

I picked up two SCWDs today and will be purchasing the rest of the plumbing tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day the tank gets set up! The lighting still needs to be completed, but I can at least get the cycle going if the tank is up and running.

I will post pics of the new additions some time tomorrow or Sunday.

Quick update:

I have the closed loop plumbed and ready to rock, as well as all the parts for the rest of the plumbing. I am hoping to be able to pick the sump up tonight to finish the rest of all the plumbing so I can check for leaks etc. tomorrow. The lighting is proving to be problematic, the 150w ballast doesn't seem to want to drive the 150w hqi bulb, however there may be some mixed/crappy wiring to blame. I am waiting on my lfs to get in the 36" VHO actinics as they are currently out of stock. I also need to finish wiring up the fans. I am thinking of running them on independent switches so during the winter the heater doesn't have to work so hard (which I doubt will happen with that much lighting, but just in case). Even if the lighting isn't ready, I can at least get the beast running/cycling the new rock.

What a long process this is becoming! I am so far behind all the other 40br builds I want to kick myself! Hopefully I can catch up once it is running ;)

Do you have the rock already?

I wish I would have cycled my rock separately during the build process so I wouldn't have had to wait so long to add livestock.

Awesome corals BTW.

Thats actually a damn good idea, but I am still waiting for my LFS to get the new rock in. It is going to be very "fresh" and I am sure there will be a ton of die off. Either that, or the rock comes in good condition and I get minimal die off and a lot of growth. I am happy one way or the other. I have a tank I can cycle the rock in if it arrives before the tank is ready.

GREAT NEWS!

I finally got my sump, and newly drilled display tank in place!!! This means, that's right, you guessed it, I can finally finish my system!

I am going to spend my day tomorrow doing the plumbing, and a fresh water run provided my overflow panel is ready. if not, I will only be able to get the plumbing done, but not have the tank running salt yet.

I will post some pics as soon as I am done.

Sad news:

My tricolor fell upside down (I am not sure how this happened since they were sitting side by side. I assume a snail did it) on top of my M. Palawensis and its tips all got fried. It looks kind of gimp now, but I am sure it will recover.

Ok I'm stayin home this weekend just for this. Looking forward to seeing this tank get wet and wild. Sorry to hear about your tricolor. Same thing happened to my turbinaria about 1 year ago and it's still healing over its wound.

The Plumbing Begins!

Alright, without any further excuses, allow me to introduce my plumbing!

I basically followed my last "Diagram" to a T ;)

I decided to give SPS20's silent overflow suggestion a whirl. Worst comes to worst it gets turned into a Stockman style Durso. I also decided to have an extra pair of 1" holes drilled in the side of the sump to accommodate two more return pumps for the prop tanks or frag systems once they are ready. These holes are currently capped (as shown in the picture).

I do not yet have my acrylic fascia to make the corner overflow, and I still have not hooked up the returns off the main pump. However, the closed loot, main drain, and aux drain are all done!

Great plumbing job, TJ. What does the aux drain do? Is that a fail-safe in the event your primary drain get clogged? That skimmer looks MEAN my friend.

Yep, that is exactly what the Auxiliary drain is for!

And thanks, I think the skimmer is going to pull it's weight! ;)

I missed it somewhere. What model/brand skimmer is it? Will you be running a refugium in the center of your sump? I can already see your fish and corals in the perfect aquatic environment. Excellent work.

I went with the bigger Octopus Needle Wheel skimmer, I figured with the bioload I plan on putting in there the skimmer will be necessary.

The center of the sump is going to be a Fuge with a 4.5" DSB and rock rubble. I already have all the LR rubble ready to go.

is the quiet one pump next to the sump for the return?

and what is that you have connected to the bulkheads for the return? im guessing some loc line thing, are those 3/4"?

does anyone know where to get 1" loc line stuff or do they just not make it?!

Looks AWESOME!

How much room do you have between your baffles?

Thanks :)

I have 1/2" between the baffles. They are so long (18") that it won't restrict the water flow at all.

Yes, I have a 4000 for the closed loop, and a 4000HH for the return (to deal with the extra head hight). Also, it is loc-line that I am using for the returns. They are all 3/4" which I think is plenty. I am not sure about the 1" loc-line. I have their catalog around here somewhere. If I find it I will be sure to post!

How much flow are you going to have going through your sump? I had to totally re-do my sump to take the baffles from 1/2" to 1" because of microbubble issues. Granted this is when I had the return in the middle and it appears your sump is much longer...

What size tank is the sump?

Sump is a 40br. So it is 36x18. I Doubt I am going to have issues with MB, but if that problem arises I will find a way to combat it. I will be running roughly 800gph through the sump.

*Update*

I am still waiting on some more parts so I can finish plumbing the system. So that may take an extra week while I wait for them to come in.

I got new critters!

I was at my LFS last night, and he needed some extra help with his coral shipment, so naturally I offered a hand. A couple hours later, I leave with some new livestock!

Ricordia Yuma: This badboy has 5 heads, and at least 6 baby heads coming up! This is going to be one wicked colony when it grows out!

Maxima Clam: Nice Green/Gold Maxima

Also figured I would show some updated shots of my frag growth.

Blue Anthelia: This thing has recovered so much since I got it.

And lastly, one of my mini nems (have 5-6 of these tiny guys). This guy is in the middle of nowhere

Wassup TJ. Your tank is a guaranteed success man. If I had that many corals to choose from, I wouldn't know what to do with myself.

These zoas on the upper left are sweet. *I think I've said that already. haha

No can do. CANADA, oh CANADA. No can cross the border for cheap.

One step closer!

I have noticed (with some advise from Stoney) a couple potential flaws in my system that could result in a lot of water on my floor. Thankfully I have noticed them before any problems have occurred and have adjusted the system plan accordingly.

Problem 1: If the system were to shut down (power outage for instance), the closed loop (due to having the intake behind the overflow box) could drain the tank almost 1/3rd. I am installing a Wye valve (picture attached) between the pump and the intake behind the overflow to prevent any back-siphoning. I as a precaution am also installing a Wye valve behind the Main pump as well.

Problem 2: If the main pump were to shut off, and the CL were to continue to run, it would burn out the pump. This is caused by the overflow box's 1.5" drain being below the intake for the CL. The overflow box would not have any water in it, causing the CL to run dry. This is prevented by adding an extra 5" of hight to the standpipe (which currently doesn't exist).

I will post pictures with the updated plumbing once I finish the mods.
