BckPckr
Alright, I have been saving up and putting together my tank for almost 2 years now, and I have finally placed my first livestock order with sealifeflorida.com. My tank has been running for about 6 months now and is well established IMHO. There are a few small cerith snails that came in on the rocks an there was plenty of algae as you can see in some of the pics before I cleaned it up. Specs: 10g AGA 80w Current USA Orbit Aquaclear 110 fuge mod w/ 18w Coralife aqualight 2 Maxi-jet 600 on a Natural wave timer 50w Visi-therm Stealth heater 10lbs mixed rock from Premium Aquatics (Figi and Kaelini) 2-2.5" sandbed Just ordered: 6 Astrea snails 5 cerith snails 1 Rusty Goby 1 Orange Ric 1 Flourescent green and purple Ric Some neon blue Zoas I am gonna have my goby in quarenteen for about 2 weeks before I let him into the main tank. I figure that with my tank having been runnig for 6 months and having about 5 or 6 small snails in it, I should be able to put my CUC and my first corals in all at the same time, if I watch my params carefully they should be fine, and if anything goes wronge I have a few places I can put them until things settle down. Here is my setup so far: Link to comment

spanko
Nice setup so far. Are you going to try to clean up all of the power cords? What is the (is it a hes) other tank for? Like to see some more pics when livestock comes in. Link to comment

BckPckr
I'd like to clean up the cords, but i'm only 18 and going off to college next year, so I'm not really worried about it. (And i don't really have anywhere to hide them, my room must cost half our our electricity bill, lol) Link to comment
spanko
So who is going to take care of the tanks while you are away at school? Link to comment
c est ma
Great start, great exercise in self-discipline and research. Many people could take lessons from you! Can't wait to get updates when your livestock arrive...you must be so excited! --Diane Link to comment
BckPckr
When I go to college, my tank is going with me. I've put so much into it, I wouldn't trust anyone else with it, lol. I'm probably the most excited that I've ever been right now, waiting for my LS. I got my order in at like 11:30 last night a sealifeflorida, so I hope they had enough time to processes it and ship it today, but I haven't gotten an email yet. I'd hate to have to wait till next week... Link to comment
BckPckr
It's 6:30 here and I haven't gotten a confirmation email for my order... So I guess it looks like I woun't be getting my Livestock till next week... grr... Link to comment

Even though they say they only ship on Mon. and Tues., they are shipping out my order tomorrow so I'll get it by thursday. I didn't even have to ask them!!!!! This is the best news I have ever gotten!!!!!!! Link to comment
c est ma
Now, make sure your camera has batteries... --D Link to comment
BckPckr
My sister's camera anyway... I went swimming with mine when I was in the Cayman Islands last summer... oops... ^^^On your post about my patience and research; I have done so much over the last, well, one year actuall--because it was last year--but I had a free hour when my school's Marine Biology class is and the teacher let me conduct the class, pretty much whenever I felt like it. lol. I also have been running the schools 35g reef, which was converted into a 90g for the last 2 years. Link to comment
BckPckr
Alright, livestock came today, everything was looking great, then I picked up my zoa rock to pull some halimeda off of it, and out shoots a 4-5" brisstle worm after my fingers... he's still in the rock... so I put the frag in its own little "quarenteen" to try and catch the worm tonight. But, I got a free green and purple ric with 2 mouths, even if it is the size of my fingernail... Pics aren't the best, neither was the camera... This green ric kept getting blow off the rock, so I gave him a hand Camera doesn't do it justice, it's bright orange and purple in person Link to comment
c est ma
Looking good! Love those rics! I would just add the zoas, worm & all, but that's me...I like bristle worms. The rics that aren't netted--are they on rocks they arrived on, or have you glued them to your own rock? They sure fit in naturally. --Diane Link to comment
keith1569
nice tank man..shoot i couldnt hold out like u did with the patience..i put it on my cc with no interent lol! keith Link to comment
spazizz
I like that green ric. Hows that light working out for ya, i dont know the specs of that one so Im curious. You should take a pic of the zoas when they are opened up. What kind of fish is that? Link to comment
BckPckr
The rics that werent netted were just sitting there, and the all blew off so Im getting some epoxy, but that is where they are gonna go. My light is a Current Orbit 20", with the stock bulbs... a 50/50 14,000k/6,500k and a 50/50 420n/460n actinic... I think, I'd have to look it up but it works great, they color pop out really nice. My fish so far, is a Rusty Circus Goby, only found em on sealifeflorida so far, but hes really neat. I wound up just slpitting the rock in 2 and the worm came out, and now I have 2 nice frags instead of 1, and they are super blue! its amazing, ill get some pics up soon. Link to comment
c est ma
The rics that werent netted were just sitting there, and the all blew off so Im getting some epoxy, but that is where they are gonna go. That explains why they seemed to fit in so well! I have had luck glueing rics with super glue gel... My fish so far, is a Rusty Circus Goby, only found em on sealifeflorida so far, but hes really neat. I know what you mean--I check out sealifeflorida every once and a while (I have no room for anything else but I just like their site) and that's the only place I've ever seen "rusty" gobies, too. Don't they sometimes offer known pairs? (Note--from some of the research I've done on gobies, I think it's quite possible to make your own pair with many spp...) At any rate, it looks like a great little fish. Can't beat gobies for personality, IMO. I wound up just slpitting the rock in 2 and the worm came out, and now I have 2 nice frags instead of 1, and they are super blue! its amazing, ill get some pics up soon. Cool! (But what's your problem with the worm?) --Diane Link to comment
BckPckr
it attacked me, lol and I dont want to wind up getting bit in the future. But thats just me. I was kinda mad, is there an epoxy that will harden underwater? Cuz the one I bought is horrible and I had to take my rocks out and dry them off to put my corals on... Edit: I still have to worm alive, I am going to take him to my Marine Biology teacher so he can show the class or whatever. Link to comment
c est ma
I've only used the two-part epoxy for binding rock to rock underwater...with greater or lesser success, depending on I-don't-know-what. I think it has to do with using it at just the right point of the combination process, and having nothing interrupt the setting process. I had great success attaching rics to rubble with super glue gel. Did it out of the water, but it only took seconds and everything didn't have to be dry, just blotted. Kind of a hassle if you're gluing to big base rocks, though. Pehaps you could super glue the rics to little rubble pieces, then epoxy them to the LR. Glad the worm lives! Must be a special kind of BW... --D Link to comment
