Count me in for Miami! I'll be your body guard.

You gonna bring your rifle?

How did the tank sitting go?

Saturday he called me because there was Schmutz in the tank and it was making a loud noise. We were trouble shooting for a few minutes before figuring out that the sump was low in water and the ATO was empty. The ATO had 2 gallons on Wednesday, by Saturday morning it was empty.

So he filled the ATO but the JBJ had stopped running (default on time had expired) and the mag 5 was running empty for a while. I'm lucky it did not burn out.

I had him turn off the filter as that raises the water level somewhat and turn off the sump. Then he added some water to the display to get the volume up and fired up the sump again. So all that was fine. Came home 1 am Sunday night and the filter pumps were still off. No harm done, just mean very little water was actually circulating for 1.5 days. Honest oversight.

Glad everything worked out. How was your trip?

Thank you for asking, :flower:

My trip was a stressful but manageable. I started Wednesday at 4am and after a whole day of set up at the trade show, heavy bags, no food or water, I was ready to keel over. at 6 pm checked in to the hotel and was afraid to relax on the bed with the internet or TV, I knew I would have passed out in an instant and my food wasn't there yet. Then I had coffee and I couldn't sleep till midnight. Ha.

Thursday-Sunday were just worrisome, the economy is not the best and fashion is an impulse buy industry. This is clearly reflected in the sales numbers for the last 4+ years. In fact we felt it before it was officially acknowledged that we are in a recession. But by Sunday sales were creeping up so that was a bit of good news. Didn't stop me from shopping though! :o

I have a week at home before the next week long trade show. I am more relaxed about the next one as I have reps handling it and they've already tasted blood. :) So this week is basically being spent catching up to paperwork, the gym (had an AWESOME workout yesterday) family time (my brother the TS moved in with me with his two little children in January so I'm their mommy substitute.) My niece, miss high maintenance, was having a total Diva moment this morning. Her dad was instructing her not to be a scoundrel in school (she's not been paying attention to the teacher) and she decided to have a 'moment'. :)

Oh and Zeph and I are having lunch Thursday.

Here's my niece when she was almost 2: The Diva

Hope that answered the question, "How was the trip".

Evenings are always fun at the shows. Drinking starts at 3pm. Every night is a cocktail party at some showroom or floor of the building, dinner with associates on slow nights. Yadee Yadaa.

Yep. I'll bring my Secret Service Uzzi that fits nicely underneath my black suit coat. You'll need me there cause you're so famous in the reefing world.

I was able to take underwater pictures today omgomgomg

The camera is a pocket point and shoot, used to be my purse camera till the phones got better and better. It's a hot pink camera so it's perfect. Unfortunately it takes less than perfect pictures, the colors are off, it's not the best. But I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get up close and personal with my tank.

CIMG0731.JPG

Horrible colors here but I was able to see things that I cannot from the front. For example my orange Acan has 2 babies. The Ked Reds (small zoa close to the date stamp) seem to have a beautiful coloration to them. The neon orange zoas also have a nice ombre color, The runaway spotted mushroom seems to have been living here, and the warty anemone is more visable.

CIMG0734.JPG

Pink Birdsnest FINALLY is recovering. Every tip has a growth spurt and the polyps and flesh have begun filling out and colorring up. The water chemistry is one thing I have been working on (far from fully corrected and not yet stable but my efforts show in this coral. I also changed it's placement so it might be getting more light which may have helped also)

CIMG0737.JPG

Needs to be glued down to stop it falling and killing off tips.

Do Yumas eat fish? This is a really big mushroom and the male clownfish has been disappearing for periods of time under it and sits on it all the time now. I don't want him eaten.

+1 to Jedi. Glad your trip went well. Even a poor picture underwater is a good picture. Awesome that you got those shots. One question though, what color is your birdsnest and what lighting do you have it in? Are the pictures pretty true?

The one you sent me, The spots that are in the most light (no shadowing whatsoever, not leaning over, etc) have An amazing green flesh to it with nice pink polyps, while probably 80% of the rest is a nice pink. I love it. I sorta ruined it a bit by accidentally bumping it, them a hermit toppled it before I could glue it, so I have a frag a little smaller than what I started off with, and 2 smaller frags the size of "$5 frags" at my lfs. Hopefully they do alright, otherwise I am making a trip to you for another frag B)

Thank you Eugene. How is your fish?

Also, that's it, I'm getting an underwater camera.

I would like to get one too. I'm using a waterproof case for my point and shoot.

Here's the frag, top right

This coral is not a cutting of any one of my colonies. I bought it as a pink birdsnest but I believe it is actually a "Glowing Fingers seriatopora guttatus". The lineage wasn't specified but it was an expensive frag even when I got it as a peanut size. But the closest I have found to it online is Jason Fox.

Sadly the portion of the frag I kept was destroyed by one of my many rescaping moves. You know how delicate it is. I'm on the lookout for a Jason Fox Glowing Finger Seriatopora again, I also loved mine.

Awesome. Once I know the pieces are doing well, I'll be happy to send you half of it back.

It IS extremely delicate.

The sump pump (Mag 5) burned out sometime during the night, shutting off the sump.

Isn't that the quintessential overflow nightmare we all have?

My overflow emptied out water from the tank as far as the surface skimmer allowed. Since the sump runs half full in water volume, there was plenty of space for the DT water to run down into the sump.

Now to find another pump and to change some of the plumbing I've been meaning to.

Ahhhhh...theres my yuma, you little napper you :)

Hey I'm no where near the score you've made.

You even napped my fish! My clam, my pokerstar! my GSP. :o I'm sure I'm forgetting more things but I'm getting stressed just thinking about your devious ways. Want to have Chinese on Thursday or Turkey burgers?

Yeah, that burned out awfully quick... My Ehiem has been running for a year and a half plus with about two minutes combined total rest.

Check for small snails jammed in the prop?

Its prolly just jammed, That happens to mine every once in a blue. I take it out and throw it against the ground a few times. It USUALLY works again after that.

I love that slipper..

Just stoping by wondering if you are still selling some scrapings of that coraline.. I REALLY want that color in my tank, and I seem to only get the red and dark dull purple stuff.

I was going to wait until you had something for sale, but haven't seen a thread in the live stock market in a while.

I am sending out the coralline, PM me the week of Oct 29 when I am back in town and I will gladly send over a bag. It is basically a small bag of water with coralline flakes and shells/rubble that have the algae on it.

For sale I have one frag of pokestar montipora, a pink monti cap, red grape macro, halimeda.

I NEED GLUE! It keeps getting moved by the crabs and gets stung by the other corals.

In happy news the mag 5 is working again. Had a cerith snail stuck in it and i cleaned out the propeller and smacked it around a couple times just for good measure. :D

Big Bertha, my enormous sexy shrimp passed away today. She was about 1 1/4 inches big and really fat. Comparing her size to the 5 sexies I have in the sump, I am assuming she grew to a ripe old age. I had her for a little over a year.

Dingbat decided to show everybody he was the biggest baddest crab in the tank.
