JeffYoshiyuki
I ordered on the 6th. Still waiting. Not being able to track is driving me crazy. what are the over tall lengths of these bulbs? Quote Link to comment
aklee987
I bought 30 of the 4x1w bulbs, I had him put 60 degree optics on them. I have 15 white, 15 blue. To be honest, I don't really like them very much. Perhaps just not my cup of tea. Not sure what I'll do with them. I think one of my LFS is interested in buying them, but they are not sure. If anyone here is interested in them, let me know. Mods, if I'm not allowed to post that, I'm sorry and please remove that part of my post. Quote Link to comment
Neya
I ordered on the 6th. Still waiting. Not being able to track is driving me crazy. Led hk blues came today(their estimate was at latest in the 2nd week of sept). I was surprised actually. I ordered a day after you. The whites with tracking still have not made it onto us soil according to tracking. Still "origin post is preparing shipment" on USPS. The tracking has dissapeared from ems post. Philip271
what are the over tall lengths of these bulbs? 3w bulbs is about 2 1/4", 4w 2 7/16", 5w ~3" The past 3 or 4 times I ordered bulbs from LED-HK, they got here in 10-12 days. Lalebeq, since they are on order, you can judge for yourself... but I'd say if you remove the optics, the light is going to be pretty scattered and weak in comparison. as far as the spot light effect, if your water is clear, you won't see the beaming effect. adinsxq
I ordered on the 6th. Still waiting. Not being able to track is driving me crazy. YEEEEEEEEEES. arrived today. haven't fired them up, but the heat sealed in ESD bag is a nice touch. Quote Link to comment
adinsxq
To be honest, I don't really like them very much. Perhaps just not my cup of tea. Not sure what I'll do with them. Wow. I'm equally unimpressed with my 4x1s Lame. Quote Link to comment
Neya
1. Tiny, I almost lost our bet as I worked on the wiring while plugged in. I was so distracted and suddenly I realized and went "oh crap". No zaps, so far I still owe you a frag. 2. After checking all the new bulbs i noticed a smokey smell, like wood burning. It could be cause I just screwed down new sockets to the box. I was unsure so I just unplugged it. ((edit)) I soon realized the smokey smell was all of the upstairs, turns out my grandmother put on the heat. That was probably the smell. And lastly, although I was only testing 4x1w blues, I can say they're pretty lackluster compared to my old 3x3w. However, since both 3x3w failed fairly quickly (1-2 months? They'll still light but only for 60sec then a dimmed flicker) that the 3x3 should not be an option. Edited August 23, 2011 by Neya Quote Link to comment
Lucas in alaska
I received my bulbs yesterday also. 7-5x1 with 60 degree optics 4 blues and 3 whites. Now to work on getting pics of different bulb combos to see what I like the most. Quote Link to comment

Neya
A few hours later, my 4x1 heatsink feels as hot (or close to) as the 3x3w got; so I'm a bit concerned :s Quote Link to comment

I was actually planning something similar for the 125. My idea is to have an enclosure that the bulbs come out of vs hanging down from... I guess an upside down box. Quote Link to comment

drunkenmonk21
I was wondering if i should go with some warm whites since my tank is a macro tank? I was thinking of doing 4 x 1w with 2 warm white leds and 2 blue leds in the bulb. Any thoughts on that? thanks Edited August 26, 2011 by drunkenmonk21 Quote Link to comment

No. I think from what Ive read 3x1 are dimmer then 4x1 or 5x1 I'm comparing to 3x3 with different optics which obviously Would be extremely brighter/different spread. However, after heat issues very quickly would not remmonend 3x3 in a small form factor (maybe 3x2 are ok? Or large heatsinked 3x3 Quote Link to comment

I'm ready to get some ordered, but hesitant to pull the trigger at this point. If the 4x1w 30 degree bulbs aren't causing issues for anyone, that my be the route I go then. With my tank being a 125 (72x18x24), I want something to penetrate that depth to have decent PAR on the sand. If there's not that much of a price difference between 4x1w and 5x1w bulbs, I may try a few of those too. Thanks for the recommendations! Quote Link to comment
dlogfx
I'm thinking of replacing some of the LED's on a few of my GU10's to add to the color/wavelength. Do you guys think that this would be benificial to the lighting. They are red/blue combo on one 1w LED. http://www.ebay.com/itm/12pcs-1W-Red-Blue-...0#ht_3824wt_689 Quote Link to comment

Neya
My first chinese shipment ever to have issues Item has been stuck after passing chinese customs for 17 days, and has not been moved into the US yet. Total time in transit isnt horrible (23 days) but based on tracking info I think this is lost. Seller wants me to continue waiting due to university/colleges just starting. In fact the tracking for china air states "Tracking Information Expired The tracking data on this shipment has not been updated in more than 10 business days by US Postal Service. Please contact US Postal Service for more information." Quote Link to comment
