Scientific Name
Ricordea yuma

Common Name
Yuma, or Yuma ricordea

Region
Widespread in the Indo-Pacific

Lighting & Placement
Moderate lighting. If you notice your ricordea are 'cupping' or bending in a convex shape, they are not receiving sufficient lighting. If the ricordea are remaining small or 'shrunken' and not expanding, they are likely being exposed to an excess of light, causing photoinhibition (easy to do with this species).

Temperment
Benign, but do not place near more aggressive corals.

Current
Low. High flow laminar or turbulent water flow will keep ricordeas from opening fully, and possibly cause tissue damage.

Hardiness
Very hardy, an excellent beginner coral.

Notes
Yuma ricordea are much slower growers than their Florida cousins, and are more expensive. Yuma ricordea are found in many colors (orange, yellow, blue, and pink to name a few), but can be expensive. The yuma tends to take up a lot of room in a nano reef aquarium, due to its larger size and tendency to spread out. Ricordea florida and Ricordea yuma are sometimes confused, but the Florida ricordea is a smaller polyp (2-7cm) than the ricordea yuma (6-16cm across).
