Scientific Name
Fungia (FUN-dgee-uh)

Common Names
Plate, Mushroom

Regions
Red Sea, East Africa to central Pacific Regions

Lighting
Moderate to high. This coral does very well under 20,000k lighting as it is a deep water species.

Aggressiveness
Moderate, will sting less aggressive corals.

Current
Does equally well in any current from low to high.

Hardiness
Moderate

Placement
Substrate. These corals should never be placed on the rocks. They have the capacity to inflate with water and then expel it allowing them to "walk." They can tumble from the rocks and become damaged.

Note: When adding this species to an aquarium always gently turn the coral upside down or sideways before placing it on the substrate. This will allow any air bubbles trapped under the skeleton to escape. Trapped air can lead to tissue necropsy and the seemingly "sudden death" these corals are often associated with.
